“Se alimenta de invertebrados, peces bentónicos, batoideos, moluscos, langostas, coral (con sus fuertes mandíbulas y especiales dientes puede triturarlo todo), asimismo el nodriza extrae a sus presas de grietas y agujeros empleando la succión; tapona el orificio con la boca (los labios son gruesos para que la juntura sea lo más estanca posible) y expande con rapidez la cavidad faríngea, lo cual provoca una presión de succión de hasta 1 kg/cm2”
