Missing the dojo? This could be why
Some people miss training over the holidays because they love it. And some people miss it because it’s more than a hobby.
For a lot of people, the dojo is the place where they feel:
• Calm
• Capable
• Understood
• Proud of themselves
For parents, it’s often the place you see your child walk in a bit stressed… and walk out taller, brighter, and more settled.
So if your child is saying, “When do we go back?” or they seem a bit out of sorts without their routine, you’re not imagining it.
And if you’re an adult student missing the dojo too, you’re not alone either.
Here’s the important bit: a short break doesn’t undo progress.
In many cases, it protects it.
Rest helps:
• Bodies recover
• Minds reset
• Motivation return naturally
Over the break, keep it simple:
✅ A walk and fresh air
✅ A bit of stretching
✅ Early nights where possible
✅ A few minutes of relaxed basics if they want to, not because they feel pressured
Then when training resumes, that “safe place” feeling comes straight back, often even stronger.
