⚾ STANDING TALL, HEART FULL, VICTORY OURS! ⚾
Making our debut in the Iron Man Tournament, our team from Mexico — representing the entire Latin American Region — responded with true greatness. After our journey in the World Series came to an end, no one surrendered. Today we proved that defeats do not extinguish our fire — they only make it burn brighter.
It was a clash of strength, with powerful batting on both sides: Latin America recorded 13 hits and New Hampshire secured 11, in a thrilling contest packed with runs and excitement at every turn.
New Hampshire took an early lead. In the first inning, a double from Tucker Lewis cleared the way, and they added their first run following an errant pitch. By the third inning, a single from Carter French and a double from Declan Carney extended their advantage, and the visitors appeared in control.
But this team does not break. In the bottom of the third came our magnificent reply: seven runs on seven hits, turning the score completely around to take the lead at 7–6. And the moment that shook the field: a grand slam to left field, struck by Mares, which rang out across the stadium and swung the game firmly our way.
New Hampshire levelled the score at seven in the fourth, through a single from Carson Lynch — yet our response was instant. In the fifth inning, Mares struck again with a home run to centre field, supported by fine doubles from Orlando Hernández and José Carlos Coronado, reclaiming the lead and sealing a memorable victory.
On the mound, Coronado started the game, pitching two innings, allowing five runs and striking out three batters. He was ably supported in relief by Daniel Gamez, Axel Meléndez and Elías Santi, who held firm to secure the win. For New Hampshire, starter Andrew Curry conceded eight hits and seven runs across two and a third innings.
Our batting display was outstanding: Santiago Hernández and Pablo Garza each claimed three hits, with Hernández also stealing two bases. The whole team played with daring on the base paths, totalling four stolen bases — a testament to speed, courage and sharp baseball intelligence.
For New Hampshire, Declan Carney led with three runs batted in, finishing the day with two hits from three at-bats; Carter French was perfect at the plate, going three for three. Tucker Lewis and Sonny Ivers also recorded multiple hits, with Ivers stealing two bases as his side totalled five stolen bases and completing one double play.
Today we did far more than win a ball game: we regained our confidence, our pride and our joy. Mexico and all of Latin America remain here — fighting every game as if it were our last. With grit, with heart, and heads held high always! 🇲🇽❤️🔥
