Friday 10th April 2026 I found myself enjoying a high stakes poker cash game at Palace Poker Room Cancun. I am not a big fan of televised cash games for reason that I am not going to mention. But I currently find myself having to get involved for a lack of good cash games around my immediate surroundings.

Since I will be playing a few more televised games taking place on the following dates 10, 14, 17, 21, 28 and 1. I have decided to share with you(My non poker playing friends) my financial ups and downs as a poker player. It is going to be 6 sessions all in all. The idea ofcoarse is to end on the winning side at the end of it all. Making a living as a poker player is not easy but doable. The is a saying among poker players that says
"Poker is a hard way to make an easy living"
I started on the right track winning $40 000 pesos in the first game that took place on 10 April 2026. The live stream which I have shared with you on the above link was suspended due to marked cards and bad internet.
The hand of the night was off the TV screens. Thank you to Tomas Leal the hand was caught on the camera and the hand is found on the video accompanying this post. The following hand is a good example of those sweet spots that we hope for as poker players. Sweet Spots that includes mistakes from the other players. Basically other players making good decisions in your favor.
Here is how the hand went:
Blinds = $100/$100
I am not sure who started the raise pre flop but the was a raise of $300. Guillermo on highjack 3bet to $1 500. Myself sitting on pocket K's on the button 4bet to $3 600 and Mike who has been playing loose most of the evening made a call of $3 600 on big blind. Guillermo made a quick 5bet shove all in of about $17 000 pesos. Folding K's quickly passed through my head but I decided to make a quick call before I could convince myself to fold those kings. After all Guillermo is a good player who just won a highroller tournament not long ago.

Thinking too much about all this could influence me to fold.
Mike had some thinking to do. The $3 600 call made things a little bit complicated for him and so he found himself having to make the call. A total of about $45 000 pesos came my way after all the dust settled. You can see the hands that I was up against on the video. Photos of chips won on the night in the comments.

El viernes 10 de abril de 2026 disfruté de una partida de póker de altas apuestas en efectivo en el Palace Poker Room de Cancún. No soy muy fan de las partidas de póker televisadas por razones que no voy a mencionar. Pero últimamente me veo obligado a participar por la falta de buenas partidas en efectivo cerca de casa.

Como jugaré algunas partidas más televisadas los días 10, 14, 17, 21, 28 y 1, he decidido compartir con ustedes (mis amigos que no juegan al póker) mis altibajos financieros como jugador. Serán seis sesiones en total. La idea, por supuesto, es terminar ganando al final. Ganarse la vida como jugador de póker no es fácil, pero es posible. Hay un dicho entre los jugadores de póker que dice:
"El póker es una forma difícil de ganarse la vida fácilmente".
Empecé con buen pie, ganando 40 000 pesos en la primera partida, que tuvo lugar el 10 de abril de 2026. La transmisión en directo que compartí con ustedes en el enlace anterior se suspendió debido a cartas marcadas y mala conexión a internet.
La mano de la noche no se vio en televisión. Gracias a Tomás Leal, la mano fue captada por la cámara y se encuentra en el vídeo que acompaña a esta publicación. La siguiente mano es un buen ejemplo de esos momentos clave que buscamos como jugadores de póker. Momentos clave que incluyen errores de los demás jugadores. Básicamente, que otros jugadores tomen buenas decisiones a nuestro favor.
Así se desarrolló la mano:
Ciegas = $100/$100
No estoy seguro de quién inició la subida preflop, pero fue una subida de $300. Guillermo, con highjack, hizo una 3bet a $1500. Yo, con reyes de mano en el botón, hice una 4bet a $3600 y Mike, que había estado jugando de forma suelta casi toda la noche, igualó la apuesta de $3600 desde la ciega grande. Guillermo hizo una 5bet rápida y all-in de aproximadamente $17 000 pesos. Pensé en retirarme rápidamente, pero decidí igualar antes de convencerme de retirarme con esos reyes. Después de todo, Guillermo es un buen jugador que acaba de ganar un torneo highroller hace poco.

Pensar demasiado en todo esto podría influir en que me retire.
Mike tenía que pensarlo bien. La apuesta de $3600 le complicó un poco las cosas, así que tuvo que hacer la apuesta. Al final, gané unos $45 000 pesos. Pueden ver las manos a las que me enfrenté en el video. En los comentarios encontrarán fotos de las fichas ganadas esa noche.
