🇭🇷🐟 From Cabo San Lucas to Rogoznica, Croatia.
This week Top Anglers was at the Adriatic Tuna Tournament, organized by the Croatian Fishing Federation. Thirty-eight teams. Three days of competitive fishing. More than 450 strikes recorded. The target was bluefin tuna — only fish 40 kg and up counted toward the score. Most of the action was catch and release.
Behind the scenes, Max Vargas helped monitor the teams. He tracked strikes, locations, releases, and video verification alongside Tonći Luketa from FIPS-M. The seriousness he brings comes from growing up in a family dedicated to fishing. That foundation is why international organizations ask him to travel to the other side of the world. The number one reason is simple: he grew up in Cabo San Lucas, the world capital of marlin.

On the dock we connected with anglers, organizers, and people who have been around international sportfishing for years. Carey Chen, the sportfishing artist, signed several pieces of his work for us. One of those will eventually hang aboard Duetto back in Cabo. We also spent time with Fly Navarro, Jerry from Team Senegal, and competitors from different countries.
Fishing brought us to Croatia. The relationships are what we brought home.
There is already talk about putting a Top Anglers team together for a future event. Different ocean. Same early mornings. Same respect for the fish. Croatia may not be the last stop.
