The universality of the Laws of the Game means that the game is essentially the same in every part of the world and at every level. As well as creating a ‘fair’ and safe environment in which the game is played, the Laws should also promote participation and enjoyment.

According to the Laws of the Game it is for the referee to decide whether or not a match can take place when the weather is too severe. But what defines the term "too severe"? Are there any guidelines about wind speed, snow, rain fall, etc.

Offside offence

A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touchedby a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:

• interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by
a team-mate or
• interfering with an opponent by:
• preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by
clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
• challenging an opponent for the ball

Van Dijk’s goal was thus called off because Liverpool’s midfielder Wataru Endo was in an off-side position and had obstructed the defensive run of Levi Colwill. According to the modern rules of football, the obstruction ends up in a foul.

Coppers Queens Captain Barbra Banda Signs Second Largest US Transfer Fee With Orlando Pride

United States National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Orlando Pride have officially signed Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda to a four-year contract with the second largest transfer fee in NWSL history at $740,000.

According to sources, the four-year deal is valued near $2.1 million, which includes bonuses. Forbes reports that the transfer agreement also involves a negotiated sell-on clause for any future transfer of Banda.
