Luwawa Forest Lodge The forest also provides a home for bushbuck, blue monkeys, leopards, hyenas, jackals, porcupines and other nocturnal animals.

Situated in the forested Viphya Plateau in northern Malawi, Luwawa Forest Lodge is an international guest house and outdoor adventure centre which offers family accommodation, full catering and bar facilities at a sensible cost. Hiking and mountain biking are two of the most popular activities at Luwawa, although a range of outdoor pursuits for all the family are offered, including canoeing, rock

climbing, abseiling, archery, trail walking, bird watching and fishing. Guided wilderness safaris on foot are also available, as the forest surrounding the lodge provides a wide variety of bird habitats such as those of the slaty fly-catcher, Bertram's weaver and the miombo rock thrush. In addition to these, Luwawa has taken a community development initiative which aims to help our immediate neighborhood to help itself. Guests to the Lodge may visit, or even stay overnight in the village of Donija Nkhoma which Luwawa has adopted as its very own special economic and social project. Our Tumbuka speaking guides, who will accompany you, are funds of local knowledge and can help you to speak with villagers by teaching you traditional greetings.
