Move towards the ball to give yourself a chance to play the ball.

If the ball has been touched make yourself available for the next play

JUMP FLOATS AND TOPSPIN .... SERVE IQ

Why are we so obsessed with how a serve LOOKS instead of what the serve actually accomplishes?

Give me a player standing on the ground who can absolutely SNIPE a serve.

Deep 1.

Short 2.

Seam.

Sideline.

Attack the weakest passer.

Move a great passer out of the offense.

Serve the setter.

Force the other team into the passing pattern WE want.

And then do it AGAIN.

And AGAIN.

And AGAIN.

That’s serving.

I would rather have a player hit a nasty, consistent standing float and put the ball exactly where we want it 9 out of 10 times than someone launching a jump serve because it looks impressive but can’t consistently control where it’s going.

Serving isn’t a beauty contest.

It’s the first attack.

I don’t care how high you jump.

I don’t care how aggressive your approach looks.

I don’t care how cool the serve looks on TikTok.

Can you put the ball where I tell you to put it?

Can you recognize the opponent’s passing formation?

Can you attack seams?

Can you take a hitter out of their approach?

Can you make their setter move?

Can you serve someone until they prove they can handle it?

Can you make an adjustment when they change their formation?

That’s SERVING IQ.

Once you’ve mastered location, consistency, pressure and strategy, then we can talk about adding more.

But I’ll take the boring server who hits her target over and over and destroys your offense before I’ll take the flashy server trying to win the warmup.

Serving IQ > looking good serving.

I’ll die on that hill.

Control Your Defensive Platform

Your platform should guide the ball—not swing at it. Get your arms ready early, stay balanced, and control the angle toward your target.

🏐 HOW A VOLLEYBALL IS MADE?

From a simple rubber bladder and carefully cut panels to stitching, bonding, inflation and final quality testing — every detail matters.
