Racing Club de Maurice was established on 27 May 1952
It quickly became a community anchor in Trianon, nurturing local athletes and serving as a gathering place for families. The club captured national championship titles in 1963 and 1977/78
—a testament to its early prowess—and produced stars like Dany Imbert, who captained the side to the 1978 title and remains a national hero and
Ned Charles, a trailblazer who went on to coach youth in Belgium
Over time, the club diversified its facilities to include Volleyball, basketball, tennis and other sports, reinforcing its role as a multisport hub for the community. Recent Developments and Ambitions
Creating the Academy ( Hybrid - School for youngest & Academy for as from 12yrs old)
To renew its focus on youth development, the club launched the Racing Football Academy (École de Foot). The academy offers programmes as from U7 age group and emphasises holistic training grounded in values like respect, teamwork , hardwork and fair play
Structure :
A technical director and volunteer coaches work with over 120 children, including 20 CSR‑supported players, ensuring that financial hardship never excludes promising talent
2022
In December 2022 the club reopened its grounds to public events, hosting hundreds of supporters for the World Cup final viewing. Since then, Racing has worked to marry tradition with innovation: renovating facilities, exploring ways to enhance the sporting disciplines - Foot5 , paddle & actively supporting the Academy. Restructuring (late 2023)
After the latest head coach departure in 2023, the academy restructured. An EDF sub‑committee was formed to link coaches with the board; parents became active partners , contributing to decision‑making; and work started on implementing a digital management system , to ease & modernise communication and administration
Launched & ran the club's signature TiSampion tournament, involving 15 academies, a weekend of tournaments...etc., to give young players competitive exposure
The tournament was paused as well as the traditional awards night while the new structure took shape.
2024‑2025 Season
The 2024‑2025 season started with a reduced roster (many players left with the former head coach), but the academy rebounded swiftly, doubling its player base during the year and restoring full categories from U7 to U13. Teams competed in around ten tournaments and played roughly 30 matches per category, earning at least three podium finishes—The TiSampion was revived with a variation called the The TiSampion Series - A series of friendly matches involving 2 guest academies at a time, every month. This achievement is particularly impressive given the transitional phase the academy was undergoing. Despite the sudden withdrawal of a major sponsor, the season went ahead thanks to careful financial management and the commitment of coaches and families. Looking Ahead (2025‑2026 and Beyond)
As the club prepares for the 2025‑2026 season, it aims to:
Stabilise leadership by appointing a new technical head coach (permanently or on consultation) who can guide long‑term athletic development. Expand resources by securing sustainable sponsorship and upgrading training equipment and facilities. Expand community impact through a campaign "Ansam! Nou Zwe, Nou grandi, Nou pli for..." with the intention bring football to more neighbourhoods and reinforce collaboration amon local Academies. Conversations with academies abroad have also started targeting some exchanges with France, Reunion and South Africa. Still at an early stage, but it looks promising...to be followed closely! Racing’s ambition remains clear: to be the premier nurturing ground for Mauritian football talent while remaining a welcoming space for families and friends to connect. Gratitude and Future Spirit
