My club of the week: Heritage Golf Club

Le Chateaux
If I only had one choice of golf course to play for the rest of my life this would be one of my top choices. It’s one of the most beautiful courses I’ve ever played and I say that every time. It’s very playable and six holes have water in play, seven are flanked by wavy long grasses on both sides of the fairway, and the rest feature some massive trees on one side of the fairway or the other. There is much variety and add to that, it is in amazing condition.

La Reserve Golf Links
Peter Matkovich’s newest island adventure has the first tee on the top of the mountain and you play all the way down to the bottom, where the clubhouse, driving range and putting green are situated. Even with the massive change in elevation only two par 5s play significantly downhill, the 5th and the 12th, and then it’s only on the tee shots. A very clever design, with a few affinity greens where you see nothing except the ocean behind the green

Not part of Heritage, but definitely two other Peter Matkovich courses that you should play:

Avalon
This is built on the top of a mountain in a high-rainfall area. Lovely fauna and flora surround the holes. Wide fairways and the best greens on the island. A fabulous golf experience with wonderful facilities.

Mont Choisy
In December it will stage the Mauritius Open for the second time. Bright green tees, fairways and greens, brown long wavy rough grass and black lava rock make this golfing experience different. Drivable par 4s and a very short par 3 are mixed in with longer and more difficult holes which add to the variety of a round of golf at Mont Choisy.

Every round at any one of these four golf courses will leave you wanting to go back and tee it up again because you know you can do better next time:
