The Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AiMS) and the Office of the Commissioner for Children (CFC) yesterday 16th September 2026 released guidance information continuing their commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing of minors participating in sport.
In line with this commitment, AiMS and CFC recommend that minors attending compulsory educational institutions conclude their sporting training sessions by specific times according to their age group on the evenings before school days:
By 7:00 p.m. for minors under 6 years of age;
By 8:00 p.m. for minors under 11 years of age; and
By 9:00 p.m. for minors under 16 years of age.
These recommendations are intended to support a healthy and appropriate balance between sporting participation, educational obligations, rest, and overall wellbeing. Through this measure, AiMS and the CFC seek to foster an environment in which young athletes can pursue sporting excellence while ensuring their holistic development and best interests remain paramount.
