| UMTC Athletes Celebrates Gold and Silver Medal Finish in Cebu Karate Championship
Student-athletes from the UM Tagum College brought pride to the institution after delivering outstanding performances at the 5th Cebu Open Karate Championship, held on July 12, 2026, at SM Seaside City Cebu.
Leading the medal haul was Ethan Jeade Leo, a BS in Electrical Engineering student, who emerged as a Gold Medalist in the Karatedo Seniors Advance Male Kumite (-67 kg) division. Demonstrating exceptional skill, discipline, and determination, Leo outclassed his opponents to secure the championship title.
Meanwhile, Cedrick Tabacon, a BS in Criminology student, also showcased an impressive performance by earning a Silver Medal in the Karatedo Seniors Advance Male Kumite (-84 kg) category. His strong showing reflected his dedication to the sport and competitive excellence.
The achievements of Leo and Tabacon underscore UM Tagum College's commitment to nurturing student-athletes who excel both in academics and in competitive sports.
