It is with great honour and pride that we inform you that the Republic of Macedonia and Lake Mavrovo will host the World Carp Fishing Championship this year, taking place from September 2nd to September 6th, one of the most prestigious competitive events in sport fishing worldwide.
On this occasion, today a Memorandum of Cooperation was officially signed between the Macedonian Fishing Federation, the Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe, and Mavrovo National Park, marking the beginning of numerous activities related to the organisation of this major international sporting event.
The President of the Macedonian Fishing Federation, Filip Serafimović, stated:
“With this memorandum, we are taking an important step toward the organisation of the World Carp Championship in Mavrovo — an event of great significance for sport fishing and for the entire region.
This partnership will enable coordinated preparation and top-level organisation of the championship.
It is especially important for us that through this event we promote North Macedonia as an attractive destination for fishing and sports tourism.
We expect teams from all over the world, which will further contribute to the international promotion of the region.
We believe this championship will serve as an example of successful integration between sport, tourism, and nature conservation.
I would like to express my gratitude to all partners for their support and trust in this project.”
The Mayor of the Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe, Oner Jakuposki, stated:
“This event is of vital importance for our municipality. We expect a significant influx of tourists, which will directly support the local economy — from hospitality venues and accommodation facilities to small local businesses across all our settlements.
As a municipality proud of its natural resources, through this event we promote responsible environmental stewardship and Lake Mavrovo as a sustainable natural asset.
The Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe possesses enormous potential to become an elite European destination. Hosting a competition of this level confirms our capacities and our commitment to creating value and progress for all our citizens.”
The Director of Mavrovo National Park, Haris Ibraimi, stated:
“This important international event represents both great recognition and responsibility for all of us — as institutions and as hosts.
In cooperation with the Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe and the Fishing Federation, we are actively working to create the necessary conditions for the successful organisation of this World Championship.
As an institution managing one of the most valuable natural areas in the country, our priority remains nature conservation and sustainable development.”
The World Carp Fishing Championship in Mavrovo represents a historic moment for Macedonia, as the country has never before hosted a sporting event of this scale and level within sport fishing.
Teams from approximately 30 countries worldwide are expected to participate. Several months prior to the championship, Lake Mavrovo will also host additional related events, including a National Carp Fishing Championship, a Balkan Carp Fishing Championship, and a World Cup competition in the same discipline.
Ahead of us lies the challenge and responsibility to deliver a world-class organisation worthy of an event of the highest international rank, while presenting Macedonia in the best possible light to the global public.
For this reason, we invite all companies and stakeholders interested in supporting and sponsoring these events to contact our Federation so that together we can create a successful international story for our country and for all participants arriving from around the world.
Sincerely,
Macedonian Fishing Federation
