BSA Appreciates Bassa Stakeholders Group for Initial Support to 2026 District League

Buchanan, Grand Bassa County — August 28, 2026: The Bassa Sports Association (BSA) extends its sincere appreciation to the Bassa Stakeholders Group, Prime Sponsor of the 2026 Grand Bassa County Districts Tournament, for its initial contribution toward this year’s competition.

On August 27, 2026, in Monrovia, the Bassa Stakeholders Group donated six (6) sets of football jerseys and ten (10) footballs to support the participating districts.

The BSA says the contribution demonstrates the Stakeholders Group’s commitment to sports development, youth empowerment, and unity across Grand Bassa County.

The Association further recognizes the Bassa Stakeholders Group for its partnership and support as preparations continue for the district competition.

Beyond competition, the 2026 District League will also serve as an opportunity to scout talented players who could represent Grand Bassa County at the National County Sports Meet, scheduled for November 2026.

The district league is expected to officially kick off on September 4, 2026, at the Doris Williams Sports Stadium in Buchanan, with Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Neekreen expected to participate.

The Bassa Sports Association welcomes the continued support of stakeholders, fans, communities, and sports enthusiasts as the county prepares for what promises to be an exciting district football competition.

The BSA once again expresses its appreciation to the Bassa Stakeholders Group for supporting the development of football and young talents in Grand Bassa County.

Bassa District League Rescheduled

The Bassa Sports Association wishes to inform the general public, football fans, and participating teams that the Bassa District League has been rescheduled.

The league will now run from September 4 to September 13, 2026, featuring Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and Neekreen.

All arrangements are now in place for the official kickoff. We encourage football fans across Grand Bassa County to come out and support their respective districts throughout the competition.

Bassa Sports Association Mourns Former Superintendent Janjay Baikpeh

The Bassa Sports Association is deeply saddened by the death of former Grand Bassa County Superintendent, Janjay Baikpeh, who passed away in Ghana after a period of illness.

Superintendent Baikpeh served Grand Bassa County during the administration of former President George Weah. He was also a strong supporter of sports and athletes in the county.

During his time as Superintendent, his support for Grand Bassa County teams was significant. He regularly supported sporting activities and encouraged young people to participate in sports.

The Bassa Sports Association recognizes and appreciates his contribution to sports in Grand Bassa County.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the people of Grand Bassa County.

Janjay Baikpeh will be remembered for his service to the county and his support for sports.

May his soul rest in peace.

Bassa Sports Association Announces New Appointments to Media and Technical Teams

The Bassa Sports Association has appointed several professionals to key positions within its media and technical teams as part of efforts to strengthen the association’s operations and enhance its preparation for upcoming National County Meet.

The newly appointed members of the Media Team are:

1. Frank Payne – Operations
2. Alexander G. Piah – Secretary
3. Alexander Musa – Advisor

Meanwhile, Begwoe N. Woenima of Looper FC has been appointed as Goalkeeper Trainer.

Grand Bassa Holds First Major Test Match Ahead of National County Sports Meet

The Grand Bassa County football team on Thursday, August 13, 2026, held its first major test match in Buchanan as part of preparations for the upcoming National County Sports Meet.

The selected Grand Bassa players faced the Liberia U-17 national team in a competitive encounter that ended in a 1–1 draw.

The match provided an important opportunity for the technical team to assess the players, identify areas that need improvement, and continue building a strong and competitive squad.

The technical team says preparations are still ongoing, with the focus on selecting and developing the best players who will represent Grand Bassa County at the National County Sports Meet.
