Dear OTSC Family,
As your Committee, we have taken on the responsibility of making some difficult—and at times unpopular—decisions in order to build a stronger and more sustainable Old Thomians' Swimming Club for all of us.
Over the past few weeks, we have embarked on a comprehensive review of the Club's Food & Beverage operations. This has included renovating and upgrading the kitchen, introducing proper purchasing procedures, implementing stock control systems, strengthening financial controls and, most importantly, carrying out a complete review of the costing of every item on our menu.
Like any successful establishment, the Club must operate on sound financial principles. To remain sustainable, we need to maintain a minimum Gross Profit (GP) of 50%. This is not about making excessive profits—it is about ensuring sufficient cash flow to cover seasonal fluctuations, spoilage and wastage, equipment maintenance, facility improvements and, most importantly, attracting and retaining competent kitchen and service staff.
Our objective is simple: to elevate OTSC to the standard that every Thomian deserves.
Following a detailed costing exercise, we have therefore introduced a new menu that more accurately reflects the true cost of providing quality food while continuing to offer excellent value to our members.
We value your opinions immensely. A Members' Comments Book will be available at the Club, and we encourage every member to share their suggestions, comments and constructive feedback. We will carefully review every recommendation and do our utmost to respond wherever possible.
Over the next two months, this menu will serve as a trial period during which we will refine recipes, establish reliable supply channels, determine optimum stock levels and continue training our staff. At the end of this period, we hope to introduce what will become our long-term menu.
We are also pleased to inform you that we have recruited a new Restaurant & Bar Manager who will be responsible for elevating our Food & Beverage operations and implementing the new systems and standards that have been introduced.
Work has also commenced on transforming our Karaoke Room into a modern multi-purpose function room, creating another facility that members will be able to book and enjoy for private functions, family gatherings and corporate events.
Please remember that every decision taken by this Committee is guided by one objective—to create a Club that we can all be proud of and privileged to belong to.
Membership of the Old Thomians' Swimming Club should represent value, fellowship and a sense of pride. We have many exciting initiatives and member benefits planned for the months ahead, but our priority is to ensure that these improvements are built on a strong and sustainable foundation that will continue to benefit members regardless of future Committees or changes in administration.
We sincerely thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support as we work together to build a Club worthy of its proud 70-year legacy.
Together, let's build an OTSC that every Thomian will be proud to call home.
