On April 4th and 6th, 2026, the first grading of the year was successfully held at the Makoto Juku Honbu dojo in Kegalle with the participation of students from the Pindeniya, Dehiowita, Levangama, Walalgoda, and Pattampitiya Dojos.
Sensei - Priyal Sanjaka, Sensei - Ajith Kumaratunga, Shihan - Bandula Weerabandara, and Sensei - Ruwan Kumara served as the board of examiners. It is my good fortune that they have remained with me as my senior students for over 30 years. It is my joy to see them continue to be successful in all aspects of their lives..

11th All Sri Lanka Open Children & Youth Karate Championship

The 11th All Sri Lanka Open Children and Youth Karate Championship will be held on 22nd March 2026, starting from 8:30 AM onwards, at the Indoor Stadium, Kegalle, Sri Lanka.

This prestigious championship aims to enhance the technical skills, competitive spirit, and discipline of students aged 7 to 24 years, representing full-contact karate organizations across Sri Lanka.

The Chief Instructors and Heads of Full-Contact Karate Organizations are respectfully invited to present their students and take part in this national-level event, which promotes both competitive excellence and martial values.

At the invitation of Shihan - Sanka Wimaladharma, Kancho - Masakasu Kawakita, the head of the Reishi Kan Karate Association, together with Sensei - Asano Akira, arrived in our country to establish a branch of the association. On the 13th of this month, they conducted a highly successful training program at the Makoto Juku Honbu Dojo in Kegalle.

It was truly pleasing to see a large number of students from the Makoto Juku organization participate, even though it was a weekday. The training session was carried out without any breaks, covering Kihon Wasa, Idogeiko, Renraku Wasa, and Kumite Wasa.

I feel that the knowledge gained from this program was immensely beneficial in enhancing the creative understanding of our students. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Shihan - Sanka Wimaladharma (Branch chief and chief instructor of Reshikan Sri Lanka Branch)for granting this valuable opportunity to our students, to Sensei - Weerasinghe of the Reishikan association, to Shihan - Thamara Nissanka, who spent the entire day with us offering support, and to the parents who set aside their children’s academic activities for a moment to allow them to take part in this precious occasion.

The annual black belt holders' training workshop and meeting was held very successfully on the 28th of this month at the Makoto Juku Honbu Dojo in Kegalle, Sri Lanka. Sensei - Nandana Wickramasinghe and Senpai - Sunil Ranaweera rejoined us on this day. Their goals include strengthening the Mawanella branch and establishing more branches in the Central Province. These two were warmly welcomed to the Makoto Juku organization by the other black belt holders. Furthermore, all the black belt holders joined together to present me with a beautiful commemorative gift to celebrate my 35th anniversary as an instructor. After the training, everyone prepared for a Dhamma sermon program in the evening. We were able to conduct that program very successfully and beautifully as well. With its conclusion, we have completed the main programs for the year 2025.
