Kandy Fortress Rugby was started with one clear purpose: to promote Kandy Rugby & Sri Lanka Rugby creatively, passionately, and responsibly, purely as a fan initiative, with no commercial motive or personal gain.
Over the past short period, we relied on match photographs to create creative edits that brought visibility, engagement, and excitement to the sport. These edits were never intended to republish original images, but to transform moments into designs that connected fans with rugby in a modern, visual way.
However, we were formally informed by Team Leader – Photography, Chamara Senarath of ThePapare.com, that their images may not be edited or altered in any form, even if full credit is given.
We fully acknowledge and respect the hard work photographers put in, often under difficult weather and match conditions, and we do not dispute ownership or intellectual property rights. At the same time, creative fan-driven media plays a crucial role in keeping Sri Lankan Rugby visible, relevant, and engaging, especially in a digital era where attention matters.
Given that our entire concept depended on creative rugby visuals, and continuing without them would compromise the very purpose of this page, we have decided to close Kandy Fortress rather than operate in conflict or against stated policies.
We believe Sri Lankan Rugby grows strongest when media, creatives, photographers, and fans work together, not in silos. Unfortunately, under the current limitations, that collaboration is not possible for us.
We thank every follower, supporter, and rugby lover who stood with us.
