Stubbornness without any purpose, just for the sake of it, is the enemy of survival.

The fighter clinging to a “strategy” while eating counterhooks is just a moving target.

High fight IQ means abandoning ego: For example, switching stances mid-round, trading power for precision, or sacrificing offense to reset.

Drills build muscle memory, but fights demand improvisation.

Also, a high fight IQ thrives in detachment, viewing mistakes, getting hit, missing a shot, all that and more, as feedback, not failure.

A body shot? Adjust breathing. Cornered? Lure, then pivot. Adversity becomes information.

And lastly, adjustments aren’t just tactical; they’re metabolic.

The fighter who conserves stamina by shifting strategies (clinch work to drain a striker, leg kicks to slow a mover) is playing the long game.
