Program Description
SwimAmerica is the premier Learn-to-Swim academy in Sri Lanka for both adults and children, and it is brought to you by Killer Whale Aquatics, the most successful swimming club in Sri Lanka. SwimAmerica is a program of the America Swimming Coaches Council for Sport Development. The curriculum we use is developed by world renowned coaches in close association with ASCA (America
n Swimming Coaches Association) and USA Swimming, the most successful swimming federation in the world. Our location here in Colombo is one of four in Asia and the only one in Sri Lanka. Our first-priority is making the water a safe environment for everyone, adults and children alike. That, coupled with our advanced technical development structure, ensures our swimmers get the best experience and results possible in skill development, general fitness, and water safety. Once a swimmer successfully completes all 10 levels of the SwimAmerica program, they have the option to be promoted to our competitive swim team, Killer Whale Aquatics, where the skills they developed in Learn-to-Swim will be honed in on and developed even further as they begin their journeys as competitive athletes. Our hours of operation for Children’s Learn-to-Swim are as follows:
Monday - Friday: 2pm - 6pm
Saturday: 8am - 12pm (morning session)
2pm - 6pm (afternoon session)
We have 10 progressive levels. Class duration is 30 minutes in level 1 and goes up to 1 hour 15 minutes in level 10. We start with 4 swimmers per instructor in level 1 and go up to 10 swimmers per instructor in level 10. A SwimAmerica graduate can swim all for strokes and the Individual medley, effectively and with proper technique. Class Fees and Duration:
Fees, class duration, and number of classes per week will vary depending on which level your child is in. Our toddler package (Level 1) starts at approximately Rs. 4500 per month for four 30-minute classes, with a onetime registration fee of Rs. 2100. As swimmers make their way through the academy, fees, class frequency, and class duration all increase to adjust to the swimmer’s needs. Adult Learn-to-Swim and Master’s Swimming (adult fitness swimming)
We offer comprehensive swimming programs for adults: from an absolute beginner to an advanced swimmer. Our learn-to-swim classes are designed to teach an adult to swim with proper technique and be safe in an aquatic environment. For those who want to swim for fitness, we offer a heart healthy, low impact workout that can be done for life. Those who want something more will have an opportunity to train for triathlons and competitive swimming at master’s level and mercantile competitions. Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 7:45am-9am
Friday: 7:45am-9am (Ladies ONLY)
Saturday: 6:15-7:30pm
Sunday: 5-6:15pm. Fees: Rs. 1000 one-time registration fee, Rs. 6000 per month for 4 lessons and Rs 9000 per month for 8 lessons.
