🏏 IPL 2026: New Season, New Rules! 🚀
The wait is almost over! As the IPL 2026 kicks off this Saturday, March 28, the BCCI has introduced and confirmed some game-changing rules that every fan needs to know. From tactical substitutions to player conduct, here’s what’s changing this year:
🔄 1. Impact Player Rule is HERE to Stay!
Despite the debates, the tactical "Impact Player" rule continues. Teams can bring in a specialist at any point to replace a player from the starting XI. It’s all about that extra cushion in batting or a secret weapon in bowling!
✌️ 2. The "Two Bouncer" Rule
Bowlers get more muscle! To balance the contest between bat and ball, pacers are allowed to bowl two bouncers per over. Watch out for some serious heat! 💨
💧 3. Tackling the Dew: Ball Change Rule
In a major move for night matches, the bowling team can now request a ball change once after the 10th over to combat the slippery "dew" factor. Fair play for the bowlers!
📏 4. DRS Gets Smarter
Say goodbye to controversial calls. Hawk-Eye technology is now being used to review Wide-balls and Height-based No-balls through DRS. Accuracy is the name of the game!
👔 5. Strict Code of Conduct & Style
The BCCI is getting strict on professional appearance:
Presentation Ban: Players cannot wear slippers or sleeveless jerseys during post-match presentations.
Cap Pride: Orange and Purple Cap holders MUST wear them for at least the first two overs of the match.
Match Day Prep: No practice sessions are allowed on the main square on the day of the match to keep the pitch pristine!
