🎾 ROYAL–THOMIAN TENNIS ENCOUNTER 2026 🎾

A memorable day of competition, camaraderie and tradition at the Royal–Thomian Tennis Encounter, held on 1st August 2026 at the S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia Tennis Courts.

After five closely contested matches, Royal College emerged champions, securing the overall encounter with a 3–2 victory.

S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia enjoyed success in the junior encounters, emerging Champions in both the Under-15 and Under-13 categories.

Royal College Tennis Coloursmen 2025

Congratulations to the following players who were awarded Tennis Colours for the year 2025:

The awards were presented by Mr. Jayantha Kelegama (Distinguished Old Boy and former Captain of the Royal College Tennis Team), in the presence of the Teacher-in-Charge of the Tennis Team, Mrs. Shyamila Vidanagama, and the Chairman of the Royal College Union Lawn Tennis Club, Mr. Somanath Fernando.

This talented team has had an outstanding year, securing Runners-Up position at the 2025 All-Island Inter-School Tennis Championship and becoming Champions of the 2025 E.F.C. Pereira Memorial Trophy (Royal–Thomian Tennis Encounter).

Congratulations to all the boys on this well-deserved achievement! Your dedication, commitment, and passion for the sport continue to uphold the proud legacy of Royal College Tennis.

✨ A thrilling 19th E.F.C. Pereira Memorial Trophy came to an electrifying close under the floodlights of the P. Nagendran Tennis Complex last night!

💛💙 Led by Methvan Wijemanne, the Royal College tennis team emerged victorious with a 3–1 win over S. Thomas’ College. Months of hard work and dedication truly paid off, as the boys fought their hearts out and put on a spectacular display of teamwork and grit. We are beyond proud of their efforts, and this victory will serve as both inspiration and a platform for even greater heights ahead.

✨🏆 The E.F.C. Pereira Memorial Trophy returns this Saturday, 30th August at 5:45 PM at the P. Nagendran Tennis Complex!

Royal currently leads the tally 13–5, but after last year’s nail-biting win, the Thomians arrive brimming with confidence. Our boys, however, have been grinding hard and are ready to give it everything to bring the trophy back to Reid Avenue. 💪💛💙

History will be made this year as the encounter will be played under lights for the very first time – the atmosphere promises to be nothing short of electric.

Come in numbers, wear your colors, and cheer with all your heart. Let’s make history together.

Captain of the Royal College Tennis Team and third-year Coloursman, Methvan Wijemanne, successfully defended his Junior National Under 18 Singles title, winning the championship for the second consecutive year. Later that same day, he went on to claim the Junior National Under 18 Doubles title for the third year in a row — a remarkable achievement showcasing his consistency and excellence.

Congratulations to Methvan on this outstanding feat! 👏

Sri Lankan tennis legend and proud old boy of Royal College, Harshana Godamanne, graced our Colored Ball program with his presence. He not only shared invaluable insights but also hit the court with our budding talents. 🙌🎾

A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Godamanne for taking time out of his busy schedule to give back to Royal College Tennis. The wisdom and lessons he shared will surely stay with our boys for years to come. 💙💛
