After careful consideration, we regret to announce that the Dhamso International Chess Festival will not be held this year.

This difficult decision was made due to the ongoing dengue outbreak and the travel challenges currently faced across the country. As the festival brings together over 500 participants and a large number of officials, parents, and spectators, the safety and well-being of everyone remain our highest priority.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫'𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭. We remain committed to the Dhamso International Chess Festival and look forward to welcoming the chess community back in the next edition.

We proudly congratulate current Sri Lanka Women’s National Chess Champion WFM M Esandi Newansa, a student of Dharmasoka College for having successfully represented Sri Lanka at the 8th SCO International Team Chess Tournament 2026 held in China.

Notably, she had the remarkable opportunity to compete against the current Women's World Chess Champion Ju Wenjun, gaining invaluable experience and marking a truly memorable milestone in her chess journey.

We look forward to seeing her continue to achieve greatness and inspire countless young players in the years to come.
