Nada Faris: Empowering Creatives Hi. I'm Nada Faris, a writer and certified coach for creatives. Nada Faris is a writer and certified coach for creatives.

In 2018, she received an Arab Woman Award from Harper’s Bazaar Arabia for her impact on creatives in Kuwait. She is an Honorary Fellow in Writing at Iowa University’s International Writing Program (IWP) Fall 2013; and an alumna of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) April 2018: Empowering Youth Through the Performing Arts. Faris holds an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry & Literary T

ranslation) from Columbia University. She is, furthermore, the author of multiple books in different genres. Her shorter works have appeared in: The Norton Anthology for Hint Fiction, Gulf Coast Journal, Indianapolis Review,​ Nimrod, Tribes, One Jacar, The American Journal of Poetry, and more. Lost in Mecca is her first literary translation.

I’m excited to announce that I’m joining the panel of judges for Vine Leaves Press 2025 International Voices in Creative Nonfiction Competition which will provide $1,000 and publication for the winning manuscript.

In this interactive writing workshop, we’ll explore 3 essential tools that every poet relies on: “image,” “sound,” and “form.” Through generative writing exercises, we’ll learn how to create vivid images, craft captivating rhythms (without relying on end rhymes) and use form to convey deeper meaning.

“Mischief Diary” is a collection of fifteen short stories ‘based’ on real events. Although categorized as a Young Adult book, readers have noted that its humor and lessons are equally suitable for older audiences. It was written primarily for Middle Easterns, specifically those raised in Kuwait.

Described as funny, powerful, intense, and simultaneously lighthearted, Mischief Diary” takes readers on a journey that addresses different issues with humor and laughter as guides.
