There's always a silver lining when it rains and football practice is cancelled!
Our wonderful library was back in use today, with kids of all ages benefiting from Kazungu and Stella's education at Future Hope with story time and reading!

Great news! 2 of the original 15 students who were nominated to try for scholarships, got through the gruelling selection process and have each received a FULL scholarship for their Secondary education.
Both girls, they are now happily on their way to new lives far from Vipingo.
I will post photos when I get them!

Now I say full, but we still have to find funds for their travelling and emoluments, so if there are any kind people out there who feel they could contribute to their next chapter

Changing from a school into a more financially viable model has been a journey — challenging at times, but necessary. One year on, Future Hope Education & Community Hub continues to play an active role in supporting the young people of Vipingo.

Discipline at Future Hope works, very much, on the carrot and stick principle, with House points being awarded and deducted for good or bad behaviour. At the end of every year the points are added up and the winning House, this year it was Hope, send the top 4-point earners, together with the highest individual point earner from the other 3 Houses on the trip of a lifetime, courtesy of Scenic Air....a 30 minute flight up and down the Coast in one of their amazing Caravan planes.

Hot on the heels of the Heroe Book Club, came, what was probably the most exciting day in the lives of our three fledgling golfers when they were invited to play at Nyali Golf Course on the Safaricom Junior Golf Tour! They acquitted themselves well!
