Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Bungoma Branch has threatened to withdraw referees from officiating Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) matches in the county over what it described as poor welfare, insecurity, and failure to meet football standards.

FKF Bungoma Branch Secretary General Ezekiel Murani raised concerns over the low officiating fee of KSh700 per match, saying it falls far below the minimum FKF referee rates. The branch also called for uniform payments across all sub-counties to avoid dissatisfaction among referees.

FKF further cited cases of alleged attacks on match officials by fans and coaches during previous school games, especially in Kabuchai Sub-County, and demanded improved security at venues. Other concerns included poorly marked pitches, interference with referees by officials, use of unqualified referees, lack of ambulances at match venues, and missing goal nets.

The federation warned that failure to address the concerns could force FKF Bungoma to withdraw all referees from KSSSA matches in the county. However, FKF maintained that it remains committed to working with KSSSA to promote and improve grassroots and school football.

3K FC will host Fortune SACCO Sports Club this Sunday in what is expected to be one of the biggest National Super League fixtures of the weekend at Embu Moi Stadium.

3K FC head into the match in strong form, having won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions. Their only defeat during that run came against Premier League side Bandari FC in the Mozzart Bet Cup. They are also coming off a solid 2-0 home victory over MCF FC and currently sit third on the NSL table with 62 points, just three behind joint leaders Mombasa United and Migori Youth.

Fortune SACCO, meanwhile, come into the clash after a 1-1 draw against Soy United. FORSA have recorded mixed results in recent weeks, with three wins and two draws in their last five matches, and currently occupy sixth place with 54 points.

The fixture could play a major role in shaping the NSL promotion and title race, especially with 3K FC still set to face fellow contenders Migori Youth and Mombasa United in the remaining rounds of the season.

The highly anticipated Mt. Kenya Derby between 3K FC and Fortune SACCO Sports Club will kick off at 3 PM on Sunday, May 10, at Embu Moi Stadium.

Shabana FC have suffered a significant setback in their push for an FKF Premier League top-three finish following an injury blow to talismanic forward Brian Michira.

The Harambee Stars attacker sustained a fresh injury during Shabana’s Mozzart Bet Cup quarter-final clash against Kenya Police FC last weekend, with the club later confirming the nature of the setback as a Grade 1 tibialis posterior contusion.

The Sports Disputes Tribunal has issued new directions in a case involving Ahmed Abdi Ahmed against McDonald Mariga and others, following a mention on May 5, 2026 in Nairobi.

The Tribunal noted that some responses had not been served to the applicant, while part of the dispute is currently under investigation by FIFA. It also clarified that a related order by the High Court of Kenya does not stop the case from proceeding.

Parties have now been given strict timelines to file and serve responses, with interim orders extended to preserve the matter. The case will be mentioned again on May 12, 2026 for compliance and further directions.

Mombasa United head coach Peter Okidi has made a bold promise of a top-of-the-table finish to the club's faithful after overseeing his first match

Okidi took over the reins of the coastal side on Thursday, 30 April, crossing over from Shabana FC, after unceremoniously agreeing to mutually part ways

Speaking to the press after the match, the former Nakuru All Stars coach, who received a heroic welcome at the coastal city, exuded confidence in lifting the NSL title

“I thank the fans for welcoming me. I felt at home, and I want to promise them that Mombasa United will finish at the summit of the table.

It was not the result that we expected. We came for maximum points, but all in all, we got one and are still in contention for top spot,” said Okidi.

“I have seen how Migori Youth plays as well as our remaining matches, and I am sure of a top-of-the-table finish,” he added.
