2023/24 KRU Championship winnersπŸ† The club’s ambition is to become one of the top Rugby Clubs of the future.

An Ukunda/Diani based Rugby Club called β€œSouth Coast Pirates” was formed in 2013, this project was started as the brain child of George Barbour from the early beginnings of the Diani Beach Touch Rugby 5 aside tournament in 2008. Most of the players come from underprivileged backgrounds and many of them were introduced to playing touch rugby on the beach, by George, to be able to participate in the

first DBTR tournament. Over the last few years the enthusiasm has grown and these young players have been requesting a more formal approach to training to be able to play the 15 aside full contact game. Harnessing that enthusiasm, and with the help of rugby coach David Nolan, a full team materialized and joined the third division of the RFU league in 2013.

We are delighted to welcome Coach Andy Ball as our new head coach.

An experienced Englishman from Wokingham, Andy began his rugby journey playing in the South of England with Wokingham, Overton and Basingstoke before transitioning into coaching.

His coaching journey has taken him across the globe, with stints in DΓΌsseldorf and Rheindahlen, Germany, before moving to China. While in Hong Kong, he earned his coaching certifications and later coached both men’s and women’s teams in Nanjing, where he had his most recent coaching assignment.

Welcome aboard, Coach Andy! We look forward to an exciting chapter together. πŸ’ͺπŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ
