On Friday, Thika Swim Academy, under the leadership of Coach Charles Nyasae, held a successful Team Day that brought together swimmers, coaches, and parents to reflect on the club’s progress since its inception in January 2026.
Speaking during the event, Coach Nyasae appreciated the dedication and support shown by members, parents, and swimmers, noting that Kenya has the potential to produce world-class swimmers. He praised the commitment displayed by the academy community and reaffirmed his promise to maintain high coaching standards within the club.
He emphasized the importance of discipline, consistency in training, proper time management, and teamwork as key pillars for success in competitive swimming.
Coach Nyasae also announced plans for a 10-day residential high-performance swimming training camp in Nanyuki scheduled for August 2026. He said further communication will be shared once arrangements with St. Christopher’s School Nanyuki are finalized.
In addition, he revealed that the academy has imported high-end swimming training equipment from the United States, including a VASA trainer and underwater cameras for stroke analysis, among other advanced training tools aimed at improving athlete performance.
The colorful Team Day event was sponsored by parents, who treated participants to pizzas and refreshments, creating a lively and memorable atmosphere for everyone in attendance.
Thika Swim Academy currently trains at ACK Thika Memorial Church School from Monday to Saturday, with both morning and evening training sessions. The academy also conducts morning training sessions at Ruiru Sports Club and occasionally trains at Thika Sports Club.
