A good yoga practice teaches us a narrative with the unfamiliar, to be comfortable with the surprises and we learn this by staying awake to every emotion, to our environment, to narrative within us, to the subtlest movements in the body. Just a quick reminder about why we are helping in the fundraising for this Walking'kipia charity.

*Walking'kipia* is about dogs & puppies, cats & kittens, donkeys, goats & sheep and cows, their rescue, treatment and finding homes.

As we all know, there are many injured or mal nutritioned, dumped domestic animals loitering about in around Nanyuki. There are also unregistered people breeding dogs, breeders and buyers both who don't have any proper facilities to keep domestic animals nor do they know how to look after them or afford annual vaccines.
There are a number of individuals who take on humanitarian duties to rescue puppies sold on the streets of Nanyuki, to pick up lost cats and dogs, to find homes for donkeys and these individuals do it at their costs.
Then there are all the veterinarians in Nanyuki, without whose help we wouldn't be able to continue rescue and re-homing, who help with subsidizing the costs for vaccination and neutering, treating injuries or medical conditions and housing the animals in their premises.
All this requires financial support. Everyone involved in doing this rescue and re-homing, care and treatment, work on voluntary, of their kindness and compassion for animals.
Hence, this fundraising for rescued, injured, mal-treated, dumped domestic animals.
And this is where the fundraising will go to. A very transparent charity.

Walking'kipia information that you can pass on to those people who are keen to join the program.

Now you'll want to know what the cost is to join in and complete this walking program.

*Cost breakdown*

1). If you complete all the days of activity as recommended in the program, then *your total donation to the fundraising will amount to 3600/= for the 3 month period* If you miss a few days of walking for whatever reason or abandon the program, then it'll be less.

*Your personal investment*

2). A good pair of walking (running) shoes.

3). 45 minutes of your time most days of the week for a 3 month period.

4). Dedication and commitment to making some necessary lifestyle and nutrition changes.

5). I recommend that you get a health screening done prior to starting this program. Either a basic medical check for blood pressure, glucose levels, BMI (available at most pharmacies, Huduma or hospitals) OR get a full check up to include lipid profile, essential mineral/vitamin levels, ECG etc.

*This is continued information that you may pass on to other WhatsApp groups to encourage people to join into this program*

Q: Why Walking? "I'm already standing on my feet all day and walking in my work premises, so shouldn't I do be doing something else?"

I'll answer that in 3 parts:

A1: Walking is do-able anywhere, anytime. You can schedule a walk anytime during your day. The only conditions are: a good pair of walking shoes and 45 minutes of your time.

A2: When you are at work, walking about from office to office your mind is at work, on work. Its known as "movement at work". As opposed to when you take a sustained 45 minute walk outdoor, you get to enjoy the fresh air, the sway of the trees, the sounds of birds and bodaboda 😁, and your mind is elsewhere, refreshing. You are breathing better too. And you can do it solo, in company of your own self.

A3. Of course any other sport activity is just as rewarding for your health & fitness. However, are you able to schedule it daily? How committed will you be? How much time, in total, will you require to get to / fro that activity + activity time + ? Are there other persons you'll be relying on to do that activity?
