Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has strongly cautioned ODM leaders against what he described as sustained attacks on Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, saying the office of the Deputy President deserves respect regardless of political differences.
Ruku argued that repeated criticism and what he termed "disrespect" towards Deputy President Kindiki is unacceptable and could undermine the stability of the Kenya Kwanza administration. He warned that leaders allied to the government would not stand by as the Deputy President becomes the target of political attacks.
"We will not allow anyone to take the Deputy President's seat from us or undermine the office through constant political attacks," Ruku said. He further urged ODM leaders to engage in issue-based politics rather than personal attacks, emphasizing that the Deputy President was constitutionally appointed to serve Kenyans and should be accorded the respect due to his office.
Ruku also called for political tolerance and urged all leaders to focus on service delivery, national unity, and addressing the challenges facing ordinary Kenyans instead of engaging in confrontational politics. He maintained that any attempts to weaken the Deputy President politically would be firmly resisted by government supporters.
