๐Ÿšจโšฝ๐Ÿซถ| A year after fighting to save the Baba Dogo ground from being taken over by a private developer, Austin Odhiambo returned to the venue to watch young footballers showcase their talent during the Baba Dogo Sports Extravaganza.

Last year, the Harambee Stars midfielder had personally lobbied President William Ruto to intervene and preserve the historic ground, a place that has nurtured generations of young talent.

The President promised to act, and the ground was later renamed the Austin Odhiambo Sports Complex.

Now, standing on a ground that bears his name, Odhiambo got to see first-hand the place he fought to protect continuing to give young footballers a place to dream, play and chase their own football journeys.

The world champion was called up, but Didier Deschamps decided not to give him any playing time throughout the entire tournament. Not even in the third-place match, where many expected to see him bid farewell on the field.

The league and the plans we had did go according to what we expected but to the players it's all a lesson learned both to the team and whoever supported us in any way.
