š§ DOPAMINE: MORE THAN PLEASURE
āDopamine is often called the āpleasure chemical,ā but thatās an oversimplification. It is mainly involved in motivation, learning, attention, movement, and reward prediction.
āWhen your brain expects a reward, dopamine helps create the drive to pursue it. This is why social media, games, food, and notifications can become highly stimulating.
āImportantly, dopamine does not simply create happiness. It helps signal that something is important, desirable, or worth pursuing.
āIt also helps the brain learn by comparing what you expected with what actually happened.
āDopamine isnāt āgoodā or ābad.ā You need it to function. The key is understanding what repeatedly activates your reward systemāand what you train your brain to seek.
āØļøUnderstand your brain. Master your attention. Live consciously. ā Mugambi
