A Message of Solidarity to the People of Kibish

Ateker Sports Organization has taken note of reports circulating about a recent security situation in Kibish, Turkana County.

While we are yet to independently establish the details of the reports, our thoughts are with the people of Kibish and anyone who may have been affected. We sincerely wish those reported to have sustained injuries a quick and full recovery.

We encourage everyone to remain calm and allow the relevant authorities to establish the facts and respond appropriately.

We also call upon the relevant government agencies, health authorities and humanitarian partners to remain attentive to the situation and, should assistance be required, provide the necessary support to the affected community.

As Ateker Sports Organization, we believe in peace, unity, dialogue and the wellbeing of our communities. We stand with the people of Kibish and hope for peace and stability in the area.

Ateker Sports Organization Statement

Ateker Sports Organization regrets to announce that 18 of our 20 teams have been eliminated from the ongoing Ateker Cup of Nations – Soroti Edition.

While this outcome is disappointing, we remain hopeful and confident that we shall have another day to smile. Every competition comes with its challenges, and this experience has provided us with valuable lessons to carry forward.

One of the greatest lessons we have learned is that success in competition requires adequate preparation, proper planning, commitment, and teamwork. We therefore take this moment not only to accept the results but also to reflect, regroup, and prepare ourselves better for future competitions.

We sincerely appreciate all our teams, players, coaches, officials, supporters, and partners for their dedication and participation throughout the tournament.

This may not be our desired ending, but it is certainly not the end of our journey. We shall learn, improve, and return stronger together.

Ateker Sports Organization (ASO) is a community-based sports development organization dedicated to harnessing the power of sports as a tool for peacebuilding, youth empowerment, talent development, and community cohesion across the Ateker cluster and beyond. Established to address the social and developmental challenges faced by young people, ASO uses football, athletics, and indigenous games to nurture skills, foster unity, and create growth opportunities.

Vision:

To be a leading catalyst for social transformation and youth empowerment through sports in the Ateker region.

Mission:

To promote peace, talent, and sustainable development by engaging communities and young people through structured sports programs, capacity building, and partnerships.
