open on wednesday at 9am? Closed on tuesday? What’s with the weird hours?!?! We’ve been cooking! Had a special invitation yesterday with to scout a potential riding area. It was about 92% not suitable for riding but there were a few sweet spots!! Still, the prospect was exciting, the adventure was epic, and I’ve never felt more in Okinawa!
Also, I did leave the shop a bit early on Monday, it was for good reason! I got started on a project trail! The goal is to have an ultra fun and short afterwork dh run that is very easy to access for club events, suitable for skill progression courses, and to add a new kind of riding to the island with a semi-hipped jumped and high angle banked wall ride. First draft is complete but definitely needs some corrections. Will post soon!
True, our gem of an island doesn’t have a lot of trails, but typhoons, shovels, and you the riders keep the riding fresh and very Okinawa!

Saturday OMBA morning ride, Zakimi Castle -> XC Loop
Young rippers that could handle loose conditions and adapt to various terrain can join Wednesdays group, DM for more info. I also have an interested first time rider I am planning on taking out so if you have a super beginner rider you want to introduce, let me know!
OMBA rides are hosted by the Okinawa Mountain Biking Associasion from Facebook. The rides are free to join! Rentals by Cutty Jungle are available. DM for info!
and if you want to ride any other time, we’ll do the perfect route for you so let’s go!!

revisited the Stuntman chest mount today. I like the idea, as it is truely very stable, and with the holes drilled into it it breathes pretty well. But I think I just may be too short to use it well. I could try again and angle up a bit more, but it is kind of cool having the camera perspective being really into the bike and trail. But you could also see my poor riding technique.

Attn Tall People!!! We have heard you and got your backs! Coming soon to our rental fleet is one of the most exciting additions in a long time: a 2008 Iron Horse XC Trail bike! Look at those sweet round tubes!!! Capable mtbs are not easy to find in Okinawa, but we finally have one for the taller riders! Before we’d have 6’2” riders ripping on the medium Trek Fuel, which was much loved because it felt like an ultra stable bmx bike to them, but for those that want to take their time and enjoy longer routes, we previously had to stick a longer and taller stem on. But soon after some testing and experimenting to perfect the ride experience, we’ll have a proper bigger bike, yes on 26” wheels, but one that’ll be more capable and more comfortable!

grips are crazy. Seem so basic, yet they can reach prices of ¥6000!!! But if you’re a bike nerd on social media, surely you’ve had ads thrown your way for some sick looking lock on grips for super cheap. While I’m sure some are okay, and maybe some premium ones come from those same factories (though my favorite Lizard Skinz ones are from Taiwan) getting ones that suck could make you die! Rubber products may seem simple, but there’s actual engineering involved, whether it’s grips, tires, fork seals, condoms, the ones you want are designed for your safety and a good time.

happy Friday! We’ll open a bit late today at 3pm.
And, tomorrows ride will be a little different. I only got to clear the first half bottom half of the dh trail. That half is also the more rideable portion for the majority of riders as it isn’t as steep and sketchy, but has a ton of interesting and varied terrain. So I plan to take the group there to practice some alternative line choices on the bottom half instead of just blasting through like we always do. DM for details! Rentals available!
