【The 7th East Japan Karate Championship】
On Sunday, August 23, 2026, the 7th East Japan Karate Championship was successfully held and concluded with great success.
This was the first tournament held since the passing of Kaicho Hatsuo Royama, Founder of Kyokushin-kan, on August 3.
During the opening ceremony, a floral tribute was offered in memory of Kaicho Royama.
On this occasion, Kancho Hiroto Okazaki addressed those in attendance, paying tribute to Kaicho Royama and expressing his determination to carry forward his legacy and lead Kyokushin-kan into the future.
International Honbu Chief Akio Koyama was also in attendance. With the teachings and spirit left to us by Kaicho Royama firmly in our hearts, Kyokushin-kan will continue to move forward under the leadership of Kancho Okazaki and International Honbu Chief Koyama, together with our members and friends throughout Japan and around the world.
It is our mission to preserve and pass on to future generations the spirit, techniques, and philosophy of Budo Karate that Kaicho Royama devoted his life to establishing.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all the competitors, referees, staff members, officials, supporters, and everyone who contributed to the success of this tournament.
May the success of this championship mark a new step forward as all of us in Kyokushin-kan stand united and continue our efforts for the further development of Karate-do and the preservation of its traditions for generations to come.
