Looking for a quiet, homely stay for your Japan ski holiday?

Little Grebe might be the perfect choice.

With only five guest rooms, this small and welcoming lodge offers a peaceful, private atmosphere — ideal for families, couples, solo travellers and anyone looking for a more personal stay at 8 Peaks Resort.

One of the most special things about Little Grebe is the owner.

He is a former member of Japan’s national ski team and also a Japanese SUP champion. His son is currently training at 8 Peaks and overseas with the dream of competing at the Olympics.

So when you stay here, you are not just staying at a hotel — you are staying with a family who truly lives and breathes sport, nature and mountain life.

The hospitality is warm, friendly and genuine. Guests can enjoy conversations with the owner, ask about the local area, and experience a more personal side of Japan.

Little Grebe also has a private onsen inside the lodge.

For international guests who want to try Japanese onsen culture but feel a little nervous about bathing in front of others, this is a wonderful option. Families and couples can enjoy the bath together in privacy.

Meals are usually served as a course dinner, but if you would love to try Japanese home-style cooking, please feel free to ask.

Stay at Little Grebe, enjoy a relaxing mountain base, and ski at Shirakaba 2in1 or Shirakaba Kogen Kokusai.

Quiet, personal, warm and full of local character.

As spring arrives in Tokyo and Kyoto, cherry blossoms often reach full bloom around late March.

But here at 8 Peaks Resort, spring comes a little later.

With our base area sitting at around 1,500 metres above sea level, the snow season lasts longer, and the cherry blossoms bloom later too — usually from late April to early May.

This photo captures a truly special moment: cherry blossoms standing gracefully in the mist, surrounded by the quiet atmosphere of the mountains.

For the 2027 Easter holidays, why not enjoy the best of both worlds?

Start your trip with skiing and snowboarding at 8 Peaks Resort, then continue on to Tokyo to enjoy the cherry blossoms and spring sightseeing.

Snow, sakura, mountains and Japan’s iconic cities — all in one unforgettable holiday.

Plan your 2027 Japan snow and sakura escape with 8 Peaks Resort.

Bookings are now open for the 2026–2027 winter season at 8 Peaks Resort.

And this season’s family MVP?
The Deluxe Kids Room at Tateshina Lake Resort.

If you’ve ever tried travelling with young kids, you’ll know the dream is simple:
happy children, easy mornings, and at least one hot coffee while it’s still hot.

This room gets you closer to that dream.

Renovated in January 2026, it features a warm natural design with timber-style furniture, educational toys, a tent, and plenty of thoughtful touches for families with little ones.

The room sleeps up to 6 guests with 1 double bed, 2 single beds, 1 bunk bed and 1 sofa bed — perfect for a proper family snow trip.

And the ski access is easy too. Shirakaba Kogen Kokusai Ski Area is only around 3 minutes away by Round Bus.

So yes — the kids get a room they’ll love, and the grown-ups get a holiday that actually feels like a holiday.

That’s a win for everyone.

Book early to secure your preferred dates.

🌸 Spring bumps, no worries mate! 🎿

Thought the season was over? Not at 2in1, 8 Peaks Resort.
As long as there’s snow… we’re still riding. Simple as that.

Today’s highlight?
A cheeky little mogul zone built along the side of the run — and yep, plenty of legends giving it a crack.

Soft spring snow + warmer temps = perfect conditions to learn bumps
Less scary, more fun, and way more forgiving when things go sideways (which they will 😂)

This is where you level up your skiing — one wobble at a time.

So if Easter skiing is on your bucket list…
2in1 is calling.

Come for the turns.
Stay for the laughs.
Leave with better legs (and maybe a bruised ego).

❄️ Wait… it’s almost April, right? 😂

Just when everyone thought winter was done…
8 Peaks Resort said: “Nah, one more round.”

Fresh snow is still falling — like winter’s refusing to leave the party.
Meanwhile, half the locals already swapped to summer tyres and are now… slightly panicking. 🚗💨

It’s that kind of snow.
The “I’m not ready to say goodbye” snow.

🏔️ 5 of our 6 ski areas will wrap up the season on March 29…
But Shirakaba 2in1?
Still going strong.

Fewer runs, sure —
but as long as there’s snow, we’re sliding.

So if you thought you missed the season…
plot twist: you didn’t.

🎿 Last turns of winter hit different.

Snow monkeys: the original après-ski legends. 🐒♨️

Just a bit over two hours’ drive from 8 Peaks Resort, you’ll find the famous Snow Monkeys — and heaps of our guests stop in either before they arrive or after their ski trip (because… how can you not?).

We took our Aussie staff the other day, and it was chilly enough that the monkeys were fully committed to the hot-spring lifestyle:
no rush, no worries, just soaking like they’ve got a massage booked at 3.

Meanwhile, back at 8 Peaks… we’ve got onsen too.
So now we’re wondering: are these little legends soaking to recover from a massive ski day?
If so, same, mates. Same.
