Hello, September 🌾☀️

A new week and a new month begins in A*o.

The rice fields are turning golden, the summer skies are still bright, but little signs of autumn are starting to appear.

September always feels like a gentle change of season here — summer slowly giving way to autumn 🍂

More than just the ride. 🚲💚

A day cycling in A*o can bring a little bit of everything.

Cloudy skies turned to drizzle, then rain, a sudden strong wind… and eventually beautiful sunshine. 🌧️💨☀️

But the changing weather was only one part of the adventure.

Along the way, we stepped off the bikes to explore Monzenmachi, stopped to enjoy the cool spring water 💧 — which our guests happily declared was so much tastier than bottled water! 🤩 — and spent some time discovering A*o Shrine and the local surroundings.

Sometimes it’s the simple, unexpected moments that stay with us most.

And after a day of riding, exploring, talking and laughing, there was no better way to finish than sitting around the table together and enjoying a delicious meal. 🌿🍽️

For us, a bike tour isn’t only about how far we ride or the viewpoints we reach.

It’s about slowing down, experiencing A*o a little more closely, and sharing those moments with the people who ride with us.

Good company. 💚

They were expecting the summer heat… but A*o had other plans. 🌧️🚲🌤️

After spending the previous few days in the heat of the city, our guests from France 🇫🇷 were a little worried about how hot their cycling day might be.

So we suggested starting earlier than usual.

And then, just before we set off… the drizzle began. 😄

Luckily, they were more than happy to trade the city heat for A*o’s cooler mountain air — so off we went!

Through the forest, a little rain, an unexpected strong wind, and ever-changing skies, they took it all in stride and enjoyed the journey.

As we continued riding, the clouds began to lift and A*o slowly revealed itself — grazing Akaushi, wide-open views across the caldera, blue skies, and golden rice fields almost ready for harvest. 🌾

Not quite the weather we expected when the day began… but perhaps an even better adventure because of it.😄

Because cycling in A*o isn’t only about where the road takes you.

It’s about slowing down, noticing what’s around you, sharing a few laughs, and experiencing A*o as the day unfolds. 💚

“Are we fit enough for a full-day ride?”

That was one of the concerns of this lovely couple from Switzerland before joining us in one of our ride tour.

Both in their 70s, they love nature and mountains, but weren’t sure how a full day of cycling would feel.

With e-bikes to help on the hills, we chose quiet nature routes to suit their pace and fitness — leaving plenty of time to stop, explore, ask questions, enjoy a local lunch and simply take in the countryside. 🌿🚲

Because for us, it’s not about asking our guests to fit the route.

We choose the route to fit our guests.

And by the end of the day? Lots of smiles, wonderful discoveries and a very happy ride. 😊

Meet Franky from ONE PIECE, standing proudly with the mountains of A*o behind him.

The ONE PIECE statues around Kumamoto are not only fun places to discover — they also give us another reason to travel around the prefecture, explore different communities and stop at local places along the way.

After yesterday’s message about the impact of recent cancellations, today we simply want to show you another little reason to come. 💚

Blue skies, green rice fields and the mountains watching over us as always.

The recent earthquake has brought many cancellations to A*o, even though many parts of our area were fortunate to have little direct damage.

As a local tourism business, we feel those cancellations too. But we will keep doing what we love — sharing A*o with the people who come to visit us.

If Kumamoto or A*o is in your travel plans, we hope you will still come when you feel comfortable.

Every visitor means more than you might realize to our local community.
