Lower Subansiri Shines at State Boxing Championship

The Lower Subansiri District Amateur Boxing team delivered an impressive performance at the 5th Jarbom Gamlin State Level Boxing Championship 2026, held from March 24 to 28 at Itanagar. Organised by the Arunachal Amateur Boxing Association under the aegis of the Boxing Federation of India, the team secured a total of 15 medals, including 5 gold, 6 silver, and 4 bronze.

LOWER SUBANSIRI TEAM MAKES MARK AT EAST ZONAL GRAPPLING CHAMPIONSHIP 🏆

The 1st East Zonal Grappling Championship was successfully held at the Dorjee Khandu Badminton Hall from 6th to 8th March, hosted by the Grappling Association of Arunachal Pradesh. The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from eleven states across the eastern zone, making the event a significant platform for young grapplers to showcase their talent and competitive spirit.

Team Lower Subansiri was led by Nenkar Tatung, widely regarded as the pioneer of MMA in Arunachal Pradesh. He is also the Founder and Head Coach of MMA Ziro, Technical Secretary of the Grappling Association of Arunachal Pradesh, and President of the Grappling Association of Lower Subansiri. The team was co-led by Tage Opo Marpu, General Secretary of the Lower Subansiri Grappling Association and President of the Lower Subansiri Athletics Association.

A total of three students from Lower Subansiri district participated in the championship and delivered an impressive performance by securing medals in their respective categories. Tamo Taller won a Bronze medal in the Senior 62 kg category, Yom Pario secured a Silver medal in the U-20 58 kg category, and Aniket Wagh clinched a Bronze medal in the Senior 77 kg category.

Their achievements brought pride to the district and highlighted the growing talent and dedication of grappling athletes from Lower Subansiri. The successful performance also reflects the continuous efforts of the district’s coaches and sports associations in promoting martial arts and grappling in the region. 🏅💪
