CARE: A Leader’s Model for Resolving Team Conflicts
⚖️ Is conflict taking a toll on your leadership?

Every leader faces conflict, but how you handle it can make or break your team. The C.A.R.E. method by Ven Dache gives leaders a simple, structured way to manage conflict and build stronger teams.

Imagine this conversation:

Mr. Leader: “Ven, conflict seems to be everywhere in my team. It’s becoming a real problem, and I don’t know how to handle it. Every time something comes up, it gets out of hand.”

Ven Dache: “I hear you, Mr. Leader. Conflict is natural, but it doesn’t have to destroy productivity. That’s why I use the C.A.R.E. method—a four-step framework to guide leaders through conflict. Let me show you.”

C – Clarify the Root Cause
“First, you need to clarify what the real issue is. Don’t assume, don’t take sides—get clarity.”

👉 Ask these questions:

What exactly is the issue as you see it?
What outcome are you hoping for?
What part of this situation matters most to you?
Is this conflict about the task, the process, or the relationship?

Mr. Leader: “So instead of reacting, I should ask questions to get to the heart of the matter.”

Ven Dache: “Exactly.”

A – Acknowledge Perspectives & Emotions
“Next, acknowledge what people are feeling. Remember, conflict is emotional as much as logical.”

👉 Ask these questions:

How has this situation affected you?
What do you need others to understand about how you feel?
What’s been most frustrating for you in this conflict?
What would help you feel heard and respected right now?

Mr. Leader: “So people need to feel validated before they can move toward solutions.”

Ven Dache: “Yes—acknowledgment lowers defensiveness and opens the door to dialogue.”

R – Resolve Collaboratively
“Don’t impose a decision. Guide them to co-create a solution everyone can support.”

👉 Ask these questions:

What would a fair solution look like to you?
How can we move forward in a way that supports the team’s goals?
What are you willing to commit to so this doesn’t repeat?
Which solution works best for both sides, not just one?

Mr. Leader: “So resolution comes from the team, not just me as the leader.”

Ven Dache: “Exactly. When people co-own the solution, they commit to it.”

E – Empower for the Future
“Finally, use conflict as a growth opportunity. Empower your team to learn and prevent similar issues.”

👉 Ask these questions:

What did we learn from this conflict?
What can we do differently next time?
What new norms or agreements do we need as a team?
How will we check in to ensure this resolution is working?

Mr. Leader: “So it’s not just about fixing today—it’s about strengthening the team for tomorrow.”

Ven Dache: “Exactly. When you CARE, you don’t just resolve conflicts—you transform them into growth.”

Now ask yourself:

Am I approaching conflict with a mindset of resolution, or am I letting emotions control the situation?
