Gatekeepers ! First I came to know about this when I was in Europe for a workshop this old practitioner came to me and ask me to help her with gatekeepers and I was like what are the gatekeepers I am not aware she was a bit shocked that me being an Indian have no knowledge about it about Indian tradition . I explained that I don’t believe in this and this is not a tradition. Yoga in the end is self discovery . Since you are a long time practitioner this gatekeepers thing doesn’t make any sense to me . This made me to think about what tradition says and what’s happening in name of tradition .
Indian traditions are very inclusive and they all seek for freedom . Moksha ( मोक्ष ) is the highest of philosophy in all Indian traditions.. Whether it’s Vedic tradition or tantrik . Jain or bodh . All the tradition encourages you uplifts you towards freedom .
Stopping someone’s sadhana just because someone can’t catch wrist ! We all are different and seeking something different..Rishis understood it long back and gave different teachings and methods . These was no one rule .
This could be someone personal opinion someone personal approach of teaching . Don’t consider or call it as tradition . Tradition is never rigid or exclusive ..Indian traditions welcomes everyone irrespective of caste . Race . Ethnicity. Gender ! Tradition accepts you and embrace you as you are .
There is no discrimination in tradition if physically you are able to do such things or not . In name of tradition power and fear is been forced to practitioners. A fear of not unlocking an asana is making them go crazy about it that their whole yoga practice revolves around it . It’s so sad to see that there is no acceptance and compassion.
If you are stopped in your practice because of an asana you are not practising yoga you are practising fear.( भय)
TRADITION NEVER STOPS
TRADITION IS AGAINST FEAR
TRADITION IS INCLUSIVE
TRADITION IS NOT RIGID
