Based on the number of calls received from Kalaripayattu students, parents, well-wishers and the public about the training programme being conducted in the name of Karnataka Kalaripayattu Association,I would like to clarify the following to you all.
I would like to inform you that I am the Secretary of Karnataka Kalaripayattu Association having its registered office at Subramanyapura Main Road, Bangalore 560061.
This Association is registered with the District Registrar of Societies, Zone-3, Bangalore Urban District, Bangalore under registration No. DRB3/SOR/654/2018-2019 dated January 18, 2019. We are also affiliated with the “Indian Kalarippayattu Federation” (IKF) since January 20, 2019.
I come from a traditional Kalaripayattu family and have been imparting training to students in Kalaripayattu (Traditional martial art). Our students have been participating in the National Kalaripayattu competitions conducted by the Indian Kalarippayattu Federation since 2013
Post obtaining an affiliation with the Indian Kalarippayattu Federation, we (Karnataka Kalaripayattu Association) have conducted the National Kalaripayattu Championship in collaboration with Indian Kalaripayattu Federation in 2019 and the association emerged as the runner-up since its inception in all National Championship held by the Indian Kalarippayattu Federation that too with the second largest contingent participating in all those events, notably achieved Bronze and Silver medals in 2022 Khelo India Youth Games held in Haryana representing the Karnataka State.
We have recently learnt that an entity by the name “Karnataka Kalarippayattu Association “ where they have only added an additional letter “P” in their name has surfaced and has been claiming to have an affiliation with the Indian Kalarippayattu Federation, Sports Authority of India etc and have been conducting certain training programmes and collecting money from participants.
We would like to inform you that we have taken up the matter seriously and have sought judicial intervention. There is a case (Writ Petition No. 19727/2022) to this effect filed in the Honourable High Court of Karnataka at Bangalore. The Honourable court has ordered Sports Authority of India (New Delhi) and Sports Authority of India (Bangalore) Not to release any funds or largess to the above mentioned illegal “Karnataka Kalarippayattu Association”.
Therefore we hereby clarify to the members of the public that these illegal activities are not conducted by the affiliated Karnataka Kalaripayattu Association of which I am the Secretary nor with our knowledge or approval , and you may exercise caution while dealing with this issue.
