Another big Referring controversy has the Football Universe divided, once again! Because, the outcome is going to probably hand one Club with most irritating and delusional fanbase their first ever Title (I hope not🤞🏻) in 22 Years and another Club their relegation after 15 years 😅
Once again, this was all about.... Foul or No Foul! Goal or No Goal!! VAR or No VAR!! 🙃
As much as it was painful to watch the goal disallowed and Arsenal getting all 3 points.... I have to admit it with a heavy heart that it was a clear foul all day long on David Raya and was the correct decision after VAR review.
There is still a lot of debate going on with everyone including Experts, Pundits and Fans asking the same questions again & again; Where is the consistency? Why only a few clubs get the biased privileged? Why can't Referees get penalised for their mistakes which cost some teams their positions in race of the European Football or relegation battle. The answer is simple but a bit ugly. SAB GANDA HAI... PAR DHANDA HAI YEH!! JK 😬🤑
Some enraged rival fans even brought the footage from a few different previous games, where in exact same situations Arsenal were given biased decisions which now got added up as an advantage for them in a very crucial and close Title race with their rivals Man City. I understand, some of those previous decisions were also may be wrong, debatable or controversial and could have have either way.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have seen it happening in sports and especially in Premier League... and surely it won't be the last. There is a pattern in these things, probably to make the league more exciting or may be controversial on purpose to keep the fans unsatisfied which is good for Football Business. Because, satisfaction over fairness and same repetitive PL Champions makes the league boring??.... I don't know the exact answer. But, it certainly has some of that grey area around it.
Look at some of the other leagues which are termed as 'FARMER'S LEAGUE' because of how only 1 team is dominant for the last 15 years. It surely is boring for the fans, bcoz 95% of the time you can predict the Champions even before the league starts and it kills the excitement of unpredictability.
Again.... I would say this one more time. It all comes down to individual interpretations based on emotional perspective (bias) of that particular moment or incident. Hence, most Referees will give different decisions for the exact same instances. And, Football fans are totally powerless in these situations as they can only rage, debate and express their dissatisfaction in a delusional hope that in future this will be fixed and there will be consistency in accurate decisions without any biases!!
It's down to just 2 games now and it would be interesting to see.... if Arsenal can do the unthinkable and sink the entire rival Football World into a meltdown or it will be yet another story of 'HAATH KO AAYA PAR MUH NA LAGAA... Bottlejob' 😅😅
Do share your thoughts, if you can bare the delusional Arsenal fans for next few years if they get the double!! 😆

OBJECTIVE v/s SUBJECTIVE DECISIONS - HANDBALL or No Handball! PENALTY or No Penalty!! VAR or no VAR!!

The recent Champions League semi-final tie between FC Bayern and PSG was a Hot topic for entire Sports World due to all the wrong reasons resulting from a few controversial decisions above, by on-field Referee and VAR.

Unfortunately, these are all grey areas in modern day football and with the rise of Football shows, Pundits and wannabe social media experts, everybody is trying to push their side of narratives based on their emotional biases towards certain club(s). And while doing so, they are conveniently ignoring all the facts, situations and circumstances just to prove themselves right which is absolutely hilarious!

Same is also somewhat true, when it comes to individual referring decisions in different competitions based on the Club statuses and league/knock-out phases in that competition. I can only laugh about it, as I definitely understand that a lot of fans are not happy because they love Bayern as a club more than PSG and probably their emotional bias wanted to see Manuel Neuer’s Bayern in the final ahead of PSG. But, I still feel that the Referee (Joao Pinheiro) in charge did a fairly very good job on the night without panicking in such a big status and a crucial pressure game.

A lot has been said since past few days about these decisions and also the FIFA rulebook is pushed forward to support or argue these claims, even by some of the Pundits on big channels, Experts and Fans. Unfortunately, there is no clear definition available in Laws of the Game about the ball hitting same teammate’s hand in the penalty box. The version you all are seeing online is a made-up version of the available FIFA rule. So, the final decision will always remain with the on-field Referee and VAR’s interpretation based on their perspectives of the active situation on the pitch.

The reason behind it is the difference between OBJECTIVE and SUBJECTIVE situations of the rules. Although, the Football Laws are written with an OBJECTIVE point of view…. this will rarely be applied in some live game situations, as the final decisions taken by the Referees will always be SUBJECTIVE based on their individual interpretation of the smallest details in that particular moment. This is because, every human being has their own unique emotional perspective about a particular controversial moment of the game, and hence the decision outcome will always vary based on their individual interpretation. That’s why there is a lot of inconsistency in the decisions for similar situations in 2 different games.

So… Let’s try & review the Penalty incidents from 1st leg of Semi-Final compared to 2nd leg in the PSG vs Bayern tie. When handball on Alphonso Davies was given as a Penalty v/s Joao Neves handball which wasn’t given as a Penalty, there were a lot of disagreement in the Football world and it was mainly because of their emotional biases towards certain clubs which is understandable. Now, let’s try to analyze both the situations practically without any biases with the following points.

When PSG got the Penalty in the first leg:

1. PSG was in control of the ball with an active attack towards Bayern Goal and probably with a Goal scoring opportunity.

2. Alphonso Davies had his hands tucked behind his back before the cross was played. But, took his left hand out directly in the line of cross when Dembele played the ball, obstructing an active attack in the penalty box area (deliberate or undeliberate doesn’t matter here) which could have probably resulted in a goal-scoring opportunity as there were 4-5 PSG attackers in the box waiting for the cross. So, it was a clear and obvious error. Hence, a definite penalty for me. Again, some Referees may see it differently and may not award a Penalty.

Now, let’s try to analyze Joao Neves Handball situation in the 2nd leg:

1. PSG GK Safonov’s half-save of a Bayern cross lands in the path of Vitinha who tries to clear it AWAY FROM THE GOAL but hits his teammate Neves on the hand in the Penalty box which is then cleared by Dembele out of play.

2. The points to note here are – No Bayern players touched the ball in this incident when Vitinha tried to clear the ball but hit his teammate’s arm directly which was then cleared out of play by another PSG player Dembele. NONE of the Bayern players touched the ball in this entire incident and the ball was cleared AWAY FROM THE GOAL. If anyone of Bayern players had played to the whistle instead of complaining and were in possession of the ball for once… I am sure the outcome would have been different.

3. Unfortunately, there is no clear definition available of this scenario in Laws of the game, so on-field Referee and VAR gave the decision on SUBJECTIVE situation of the game, which I feel is practically correct. Again, there may be similar incidents elsewhere which might have resulted in a penalty. So, it all depends on different individual interpretations of the similar situation.

There are 1 or 2 other situations as well which were controversial for most fans.

Nuno Mendes Handball - When I saw it live in real time speed, I noticed the ball hit his jersey sleeves under his armpit rather than hand entirely. So, for me it was not a handball. Or maybe even if it was given as a handball, it was never a yellow card offense bcoz of the tricky scenario. But, again… it all depends upon how others interpret that moment based on their perception. So, it could go either way in some cases.

Also, Luis Diaz foul in 78th minute was a bit tricky, when he ran into PSG defender Beraldo. For me, it was both players coming together rather than a deliberate block by Beraldo. And, then Diaz rightly got a yellow card for deliberately handling the ball rather than playing to the whistle. Again, this might be differently interpreted by some fans based on their perception of the situation.

In all these situations, I can understand the frustration of the Bayern camp and their supporters because they were at the receiving end. And I can guarantee you, if the tables were turned for these same instances with PSG at the receiving end…. none of the Bayern supporters would have complained.

Sadly, these are all grey areas of the game, which do not have set standard rules and hence, the decisions will always depend upon SUBJECTIVE situations of that particular moment in the live game. So, we will always see different decisions by different Referees, for the exact same instances based on their emotional perception of the game.

Phew!! This was a little long explanation, but I hope it will be helpful for some fans to clear their brain fog!!!

And, If you have read through all of it… Please do comment with your opinions, thoughts or arguments about it. Share with your pals for a debate. Let there be WAR of words about it!

Ten years to the journey of, "From Doubters to Believers!!" ❤️🌀 & a throwback to 2018! 🔮

Really grateful to have received this wonderful Gift from Mr. John Owens! A former Liverpool FC Asst. Academy Director & England, who coached Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen and Jamie Carragher, in their youth to first team journey for the Club & Country!! 🙌🏻❤️

So much insights and wisdom to learn, from one of the greatest Managers, in Modern Day Football! 🧠

3 bad results and suddenly everyone is questioning the Man in charge, who won a League Title just 5 months back, in his first PL Season!! I mean.... how more plastic, some of these new & existing fans, as well as some Pundits can be! 🤡

The sudden moaning & crying, bcoz we lost 3 difficult away games, against 3 very good teams, is absolutely sad & ironic. The perfect Klopp replacement few months ago, is suddenly the clueless Coach, & now, is being compared to Erik ten Hag!! 🫩😒

Hypocrisy dekh raha hai na Binod!! 😂😂

It is still very early in the season and Liverpool are just 1 point behind Arsenal, who tops the league table. So, Liverpool fans really need to stop panicking and overreacting at this point. No doubt that the defense looks in absolute shambles right now. But, give Arne Slot and Team some time to adapt. It's not just about some players going elsewhere and new players coming to the team. But, we also had changes to our Coaching staff. These changes also matters a lot, how a team performs on the pitch.

John Heitinga, Fabian Otte and Claudio Taffarel who were very pivotal to our solid defense last season, have been replaced by new members. So, their new ideas & new setup with the team might be little different than previous. And, players will need time to adapt to it. Although, I am not really convinced with what I have seen so far in that defensive back-line & also a little worried, because Club failed to strengthen it with at least 2 new defenders, before selling both Nat Phillips & J. Quansah.

But, Liverpool fans really need to be patient and positive, instead of crying and throwing garbage at Manager/Players, who won you the league last season. Don't fall for all the crisis narratives by rival fans, Pundits and media!
It's not end of the world, after just 10 games in total. Let's stay positive & faithful!!

YNWA Lads! 🚩❤️

THANK YOU LADS FOR THE MEMORIES AND GOOD TIMES.… BUT, THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!!

Had to get it off my chest!!

It’s been more than a while now, since the tragic passing of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva in a car accident, and as fans, some of us are still not fully gotten over it. So, one can only imagine the trajectory of pain both their loved ones, close friends and team-mates would be suffering, from the void both have left behind. Can’t say much about Andre Silva, as never knew much about him, but when it comes to Diogo Jota, as LFC and PL fans, some of us were following him regularly and loved his humble & down-to-earth personality, on & off the pitch. Hence, watching the kind of tributes pouring in till this date for both, from everyone around the Football & rest of the Sports World is truly overwhelming. The lad joined the club in 2020, wore the jersey No. 20 and helped us win that Title no. 20!! I still remember, he did his own joining day Transfer media coverage to Liverpool FC. Because, no media was there probably due to COVID restrictions or may be because it wasn’t a high profile transfer. He said in his first interview, “The fans can count on him, because he is one of us now!” And, boy… he did lived up to the expectations immediately from the first game.

Me as an Individual, someone who has a very practical approach towards life and understands the unpredictability of it on everyday basis; somehow is still unable to digest the reality about non-existence of Premier League’s one of the most underrated baller in recent times. At first, when the news broke out about the incident, I was hoping that it could be a case of false reporting or mistaken identities. But, came to senses after watching the news everywhere for next 2 days. Most of us have watched him only on TV and other online platforms, but it still feels like one of your closest pals have left this world. He was absolutely on top of everything in his personal and professional life, with a brighter future in most of the roles in journey ahead. Unfortunately, life had some other plans, nobody could understand!

Yes! I know, this is not the first time, an athlete has tragically passed away in sports. There are more than a few in the past as well. A few names I remember are Christian Atsu, Emiliano Sala, Jose Antonio Reyes, Kobe Bryant and Phillip Hughes. But, sometimes you are emotionally more connected to an athlete because of certain special qualities you relate to. And, as a football fan, I was an admirer of Diogo Jota since his Wolverhampton days. Probably, the only player I was following closely apart from Luis Suarez, who played for another club, even before joining Liverpool FC. His FIFA gaming skills, jersey no.20 and that iconic FIFA gamer celebration after scoring goals, made him even more of a special player for me. Probably, not many fans know that, Diogo had also completed his UEFA-B coaching license and could have went on to become a Coach in future. In addition, a strong and vocal advocate for Women's Sports. And, an ideal FIFA player in real life football as well. Not gonna lie! I was actually happy when Jota won the invitational e-PL Final against LFC’s Trent in Covid-2020 period. And, sometimes you could kind of sense that FIFA like antiques in his on-field gameplay as well.

I still remember the Home game against Newcastle in 23/24 season, where he completely changed the game in our favor after coming on as a substitute, along with few others. NUFC’s goalkeeper Dúbravka had channeled his inner Manuel Neuer that day. I was laughing my *ss off, after watching that Diogo Jota’s delayed dive in the box for Penalty and completely knowing that, he was also trying to get Dúbravka sent-off with a RED Card. His Firmino like goal against Arsenal in 21/22 season and a similar one, which was his last in Merseyside derby game last season. That first touch header against Forrest to level the difficult away game at Nottingham. The UCL hat-trick in a game away at Atlanta in 20/21, where he got injured and I was literally fuming at (Klopp) Manager’s decision even before the game, as he played most of our first team squad at a tough location rather than protecting key players for long term, in what was a really weird season for many reasons. But, the best memory is of course that iconic injury time goal and FIFA celebration against Tottenham in 4-3 win at Anfield. And, I was not really happy with Jordan Henderson for interrupting Jota’s FIFA Joystick celebration. Should have let the lad have his iconic moment in peace. And, lastly… never seen another player similar to his height in recent times, scoring some of those amazing Headers. Truly underrated!!

But now, all those great moments will forever be memories with a pinch of sadness. Having said that, as fans… are we eating well? YES. Are we having a laugh? YES. Have we continued with our daily routine lives? YES!! But, sometimes there is a bit of sadness in these things. And, it’s those quiet moments in the crowd, and also when you are alone; sometimes you start thinking and questioning the incident and events that occurred. Because, the very thing that kept you up in difficult moments, is now the reason of a little bitterness for some period. Now, just put yourself in the shoes of his club and country teammates, and you might get a little understanding of what every one of them would be going through. You can see it and feel it visibly with players like Salah, Van Dijk, Robertson, Nunez and few others. And, maybe it could be even more difficult for some of new players coming to the club, because the environment will be a little awkward and probably not entirely positive till some of his old team pals completely get over it.

Yes! Probably, entire Sports World expects these high performance professional athletes to perform week-in week-out, despite some of the most difficult circumstances or tragedies like passing away of a family member or a team-mate. But, we all have to understand that, end of the day they are also normal human beings consisting flesh and bones, filled with emotions like us. And tragic events like these can affect their on and off the field appearances for a long period of time. Sometimes, positively and sometimes negatively as well. Unfortunately, in modern day world, Sport is no longer just the Sport it used to be. It’s a profitable show-business for all the stakeholders involved and it cannot be paused or stopped for tragedies like these. Also, it’s sad to see a small set of rival fans mocking this tragedy. Unfortunately, we have to live with that. Because, you cannot change the mentality of some of these sick people. On the other hand, some of the LFC fans and others are expecting that, Team-mates of Diogo should use this as an extra fuel or motivation, and win everything to pay him Tribute, with all the silverware in current season. This is also not okay! I mean… do these people think, that winning everything is that easy? Did some of these people even played any competitive sports in their lives, before opening their mouths and burdening the Players/Manager with these unnecessary expectations? If, it was that easy…… everybody would have done it!!

The best way to support your team, is not having any unrealistic expectations from them, in situations like these. When you go to games or watch it online, just cheer for your Team unconditionally, with all your heart and let them play freely. Let them express themselves to remember and honour their beloved team-mate, who might be watching and cheering for them, from the Sky above. Enjoy each game as it comes! WIN, Draw or lose… we are all together in this for Diogo & Andre! And, if it’s supposed to happen… it will happen. But, if not… don’t get disappointed or mad at your Team and Manager. I have also played sports as an athlete, growing up and I can tell you for a fact that every day, every game is not the same. Some days or some games, athletes will have the motivation to do it…. sometimes, they won’t! Because, they might feel overwhelmed with the emotions and won’t be able to perform at their Best. And, that’s completely alright!

Unfortunately, not everyone…. But some fans will definitely agree and understand it. You work at a company or an organization, and after tragic events like these, some days you perform well and some days don’t, because of overwhelming memories, breaking your focus and concentration. It’s exactly the same for these high performance athletes. Don't expect them to perform magic or wonders, every time they step onto that football field this season. Probably, every game in the first few months of the season, there will be banners, posters, tributes, and specially in 20th minute of every game, which can be pretty overwhelming for Diogo's team-mates on the pitch. But, those heavy emotions will eventually fade away, as the season progresses, and players will get back to their benchmark best. Till then, please keep your horses calm and don't overreact to every dropped point, missed opportunity or a defeat.

So, all we can say is, Thank you lads for the beautiful memories and good times….. But, The Show Must Go On!!

Rest in peace Diogo and Andre! The Streets of PL and Football world will never forget!! FOREVER20💔🖤
