Mahur Sports Association (MSA) is proud to announce the commencement of a new initiative to integrate and officiate female match officials in its football leagues*, starting with the upcoming *TK Lienthang Under-16 Football Tournament 2026* from 11th June 2026.

*Objective of the Initiative*
The initiative aims to:
1. Promote gender inclusivity and equal opportunity in grassroots football.
2. Create a pathway for local women and girls to take up roles as referees and assistant referees.
3. Inspire more female participation in sports administration and officiating in Mahur and adjoining areas and later promote them to district level.

TK Lienthang Under 16 football tournament kicked off today

Mahur Sports Association successfully organised the *NEWME Baby U-13 Football League 2026* to promote grassroots football and nurture young talent in Mahur and adjoining areas. The league provided a competitive platform for school and club-level U-13 teams of Dima Hasao district.

A total of *13 teams* participated in the tournament. The teams competed in a league-cum-knockout format, ensuring maximum match time for all young players.

The grand finale was played between *Heuwangberam* and *Mahur Town Club*.
- *Result*: The match ended in a *goalless draw 0-0* after regulation time.
- *Winner*: *Mahur Town Club* emerged champions by winning the tie-breaker shootout.

Both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill throughout the match, much appreciated by the spectators and officials present.

The final match was graced by:
1. *Smt. Shiela Lyngdoh*, Headmistress, Step by Step School — _Chief Guest_
2. *Mr. Lalhmunsang Changsan*, Former District Football Player — _Guest of Honour_

The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour distributed trophies, medals, and certificates to the winning team, runners-up, and individual award winners. In her address, Smt. Lyngdoh lauded the young players for their discipline and encouraged them to balance academics with sports. Mr. Changsan shared his experience as a former district player and motivated the children to pursue football seriously.

The NEWME Baby U-13 Football League 2026 concluded on a high note with Mahur Town Club lifting the trophy. The Association looks forward to organizing more such events for the development of sports in Dima Hasao.

On behalf of the Mahur Sports Association, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sri. Ratu Hakmaosa, Hon’ble Football Secretary, DHSA, for sparing his valuable time to grace the inaugural day of the NEWME Baby Football League 2026 held at Ringphai Langthasa Sports Complex, Mahur on 28/5/26

His esteemed presence served as a great source of inspiration and encouragement for all 13 participating teams and the budding footballers. The words of motivation shared by Sri. Hakmaosa with the young players will go a long way in nurturing their sporting spirit and reinforcing their love for the game at the grassroots level.

We deeply appreciate DHSA’s continued support and guidance in promoting football in the district. The encouragement from senior officials like Sri. Hakmaosa strengthens our resolve to develop more such platforms for young talent in Mahur and adjoining areas.
