🥋 Yesterday, the 1st Term KYU Grading Examination of JKA ZSKA was successfully conducted with great discipline and enthusiasm at our Shantiniketan JKA Zen Shoto Karate Academy Dojo.

We were honored to have Gokul Chandra Dutta Sensei as the Examiner and Guest Instructor for the grading. The entire examination was carried out smoothly and in a highly professional manner. After the grading, Sensei took time to provide valuable technical corrections and guidance, helping students understand their mistakes and improve their techniques in the right direction.

We are proud to announce that Debarati Pal, a student of Shantiniketan Academy, was recognized as the Best KYU Grading Performer of the day. Her performance was highly appreciated, and the examiner was very pleased. 👏

Overall, the entire event turned into a wonderful and enjoyable experience for all.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Gokul Chandra Dutta Sensei for his presence, evaluation, and valuable guidance.
Special thanks to all the ZSKA supporting staff and volunteers for their excellent organization and efforts in making the event successful.

🥋 Last Sunday, Zen Shoto Karate Academy (ZSKA) successfully conducted its Keiko Hajime program with great enthusiasm and true JKA spirit.
We were honored by the presence of our Guest Instructor, Pradeep Sharma Sensei, who conducted an inspiring training session for our ZSKA students. During the program, Sensei not only guided the participants through effective Keiko Hajime training but also motivated everyone to participate in the upcoming Hirayama Sensei Camp. He clearly explained the importance, benefits, and long-term value of attending such high-level JKA training camps for the growth of every karateka.
We were also pleased to have Mrs. Santana Banerjee, representing the Planning & Development Department, Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC), present with us during the program.
The entire program was conducted very smoothly and successfully. The main objective of Keiko Hajime—to begin the year with discipline, dedication, and renewed spirit—was fulfilled. Most importantly, the program strongly focused on promoting the upcoming Hirayama Sensei Camp in Kolkata and helping students understand why participating in such camps is extremely important for technical, mental, and personal development in karate.
We sincerely extend our heartfelt thanks to JKAWF INDIA for their continuous guidance, support, and encouragement, which always help us organize such meaningful and quality programs.
Once again, our gratitude to Pradeep Sharma Sensei, all participants, and everyone who contributed to making this program a grand success.

🥋 JKA ZSKA – KEIKO HAJIME 2026 🥋

Zen Shoto Karate Academy (JKA ZSKA) is pleased to announce Keiko Hajime 2026, the traditional New Year training program of the Japan Karate Association.
Keiko Hajime means “the first training of the year.”
It is a very important JKA tradition where karateka begin the New Year with sincere practice, discipline, and renewed determination. The purpose of Keiko Hajime is to:
Refresh the mind and body
Strengthen karate spirit and discipline
Set new goals for the coming year
Reaffirm commitment to regular training and self-improvement

We extend a warm invitation to all JKA karate enthusiasts in West Bengal to witness the largest and most prestigious 'Shobu Ippon' karate event of the year - The 2nd All Bengal JKA Karate Championship 2025. This Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, the Sabuj Sathi Krirangan Howrah Indoor Stadium will host over 550 talented JKA practitioners competing in various categories to showcase their skills and expertise.

The championship will follow the traditional 'Shobu Ippon' format, a style of karate competition pioneered by the JKA in Japan over 70 years ago. In this format, a single decisive point, or 'ippon,' secures victory, emphasizing the importance of precision, power, and technique. We look forward to an exciting display of martial arts excellence!

This event is organised by the JKAWF INDIA WB and supported by the JKA Howrah.

On 31st August 2025, our Kyu Grading Examination was successfully conducted at Sujala Club under the guidance of Gokul Chandra Dutta Sensei, who graced us as the Examiner.

The exam was carried out in a very disciplined and professional manner. Sensei not only evaluated each student’s performance but also took the time to carefully explain mistakes, guiding the students on how to improve and refine their Karate techniques. His valuable explanations and insights helped every student understand the importance of fundamentals and precision in Karate.

This was the second time that Gokul Chandra Dutta Sensei visited Zen Shoto Karate Academy, and once again his presence and guidance proved to be highly inspirational for both students and instructors alike.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to him for his time, effort, and contribution towards shaping the growth of our Karatekas. 🙏
