Everyone remembers the floods of Handwara – the pictures are everywhere.
But when it comes to Srinagar, no one talks about it the same way.

Look at these pictures: the devastating floods that submerged Srinagar – homes, mosques, Lal Chowk, SKIMS, everything under water. And then look again: after the floods, new hospitals and modern constructions came up quickly.

The question is simple: Why is Handwara always remembered only for floods, while Srinagar’s floods are forgotten – and instead new infrastructure rises there?

This is not just about memories, it’s about priorities. Floods hit both places, but Srinagar was rebuilt with new hospitals and facilities,

while Handwara is still held back under the tag of being “flood-prone. Why So ?

1. Construction of embankment along the Pohru river for one km length at Chogul , that embankment can be also used as a road for GMC .
2. ⁠Widening of Nallah upstream and downstream of GMC location.
3. ⁠Construction of few irrgation Dams in upper reaches of Pohru Nallah in future .
