Gulbarga Aqua Association is a registered association formed in the Year 2011 by a Group of like minded members from various professions like Doctors, Engineers, Architects , Advocates, and Businessmen from various fields. The Association is formed to protect and maintain the Swimming Pool and the facilities provided by Government in association with District Administration of Gulbarga. Since its

inception Gulbarga Aqua Association, is very active and conducting various activities. In the year 2012 August it has been awarded the tender of maintaining the whole Swimming Pool complex for 3 years. After assuming the charge we have conducted Summer coaching camp in the year 2013 for the 1st time in Gulbarga. The coaching for 5 Years to 50 Years age group for both Boys, Girls, Men and Women was organized and successfully conducted the camp and around 700 members have learned the Swimming. at the end of the camp a competition was held among Learners and attractive prizes were Distributed. The function is graced by Hon’ble Minister for Medical education Dr.Sharanprakash Patil, who is also our Association’s Life member. On this competition Kumari Shreya Kamlapurkar of Gulbarga origin settled in Poona was Invited along her coach. Mr.Tej Narayan Bagath and Demonstrated life saving skills for the benefit of our learners. Kumari Shreya very famous sea swimmer who swum from gateway of India to elephanta caves. In the month of August 2013 a Program on "JALA - YOGA" was organized, in this event Mr.Arjun Mirjkar A Yoga Specialist from Gulled Gudda of Bagalkot District was given extraordinary Demonstration of performing all types of Yoga activities, usually which will be performed on Land are did in the Swimming Pool which require a great balance, control over body, Mind, and concentration to perform such an act. Second Swimming coaching camp was organized during 2014 summer and over whelming response from public made if difficult to conduct the camp the demand was such that we have extended number of batches from 4 to 6. As many as 1200 members ageing from 3 Years to 55 Years Learned the swimming and very happy to introduce their Relatives who arrived to Gulbarga during Vacation. among them the boys and Girls from Bangalore, Hubli, Belgaum, Hospet, Sholapur, Poona have Learned the Swimming. Srinivas Naidu is a Reputed Coach from Bellary introduced "Hydro Theraphy" which means all the stretching exercises in water including Boxing, Jogging, Running, etc. Since then around 40 members are joined the Group and regularly doing the water Therapy exercises and they enjoyed the benefits like weight reduction, B.P- Sugar control, Relief from Joint pains ranging from Neck, waist, Knees, Legs etc. This had resulted in daily Meetings among the members and inspired to take further activities.

"Government apathy has, however, not dented the spirit of some sports-loving people like Renuka Biradar, 37, a homemaker from Gulbarga. She learnt to swim at the age of 35 in 2012 and was "hooked onto the sport". She has since taken part in the State Master's swim meet in 2012 and completed a level-1 and 2 coaching programme organised by KSA so that she could take up coaching. "I was really keen on developing the sport in my home town. Since we didn't have a proper coach, I decided to take the onus upon myself and today we have 11 swimmers from Gulbarga participating in this meet. Of course, we are about 10-15 seconds behind swimmers from the city but if we get a good government-appointed coach maybe we can do better," she says."

Karnataka’s won over 25 national swimming championship titles. But with dwindling participation from the districts, will the days of glory become a lore?
