Napoli 1 -2 Juventus

Champions Juventus took a huge step towards retaining the Serie A title by beating second-placed Napoli, with both sides reduced to 10 men.

Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret was given a straight red card for tripping Cristiano Ronaldo and Miralem Pjanic curled in the resulting free-kick.

Emre Can headed a second, before Pjanic was dismissed for deliberate handball.

Roger Federer beat Marton Fucsovics to reach the Dubai Tennis Championships semi-finals and close in on his 100th ATP singles title.

The Swiss was pushed by the Hungarian world number 35 but came through 7-6 (8-6) 6-4 in one hour 57 minutes.

If Federer wins an eighth title in Dubai he will become just the second player to win 100 singles titles after American Jimmy Connors, who won 109.

Luis Suarez scored twice as Barcelona won at Real Madrid in a smash-and-grab El Clasico to reach a sixth consecutive Copa del Rey final.

Real dominated with 14 shots to Barca's four but the visitors were clinical when it mattered.

Suarez smashed home Ousmane Dembele's cross before Raphael Varane's own goal put Barca in control.

Atletico Madrid claimed a big victory over Juventus in the Champions League last 16 first leg thanks to two goals from their centre-backs at set-pieces.
Diego Simeone's side were denied a penalty and an Alvaro Morata goal by the video assistant referee before they opened the scoring.

Jose Maria Gimenez pounced from eight yards after Morata's header was blocked by Mario Mandzukic.

Wasteful Barcelona could not convert any of their 25 shots in a goalless Champions League last-16 first-leg draw against Lyon.

Usually so proficient in front of goal, Barca's Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Phillipe Coutinho were all denied by Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Lyon had chances, too, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen brilliantly tipped Martin Terrier's long-range shot onto the bar.

American Biles, 21, was named Sportswoman of the Year after winning four gold medals, one silver and one bronze at the 2018 World Championships.

Serb Djokovic, 31, won the Sportsman of the Year award after claiming victory at both the US Open and Wimbledon.

Golfer Tiger Woods won the Comeback award, while tennis player Naomi Osaka won Breakthrough of the Year.

Romanian world number three Halep beat Gorges 7-6 (7-1) 7-6 (8-6) while Ukrainian fourth seed Svitolina, the world number eight, brushed aside Czech qualifier Karolina Muchova 6-4 6-2.

Elsewhere, Angelique Kerber beat Czech Barbora Strycova 1-6 6-2 7-6 (7-4).

The body recovered from the wreckage of a crashed plane is that of Cardiff City player Emiliano Sala, Dorset Police have said.

Sala, 28, was travelling to Cardiff in a plane piloted by David Ibbotson, which went missing over the English Channel on 21 January.

The body was recovered late on Wednesday after the wreckage was found on Sunday morning.
