The Sikkim Rifle Association has established a significant milestone for the state with the registration of its Sikkim Rifle and Pistol Academy in Tadong, Gangtok. This marks the first time that the Olympic sport of shooting, a discipline that demands extraordinary precision, focus, and mental discipline, has been formally introduced in Sikkim. Olympic shooting involves a variety of events, including disciplines with rifles, pistols, and shotguns, where athletes must demonstrate unwavering control and skill to hit stationary targets from a distance or moving clay targets in the air. As a sport of pure accuracy, it requires not only a steady hand but also immense concentration, breath control, and the ability to perform under high pressure, making it a true test of an athlete's physical and psychological fortitude. The establishment of this academy will provide aspiring shooters in the state with a professional platform to develop these essential skills and potentially represent Sikkim and the nation in the Olympic Games.
