🏏 Player Development Journey | Daksh Desai

13-Year-Old Daksh Desai from Bhavnagar, Gujarat has shown tremendous improvement in his batting skills over the last 3 months under the guidance of Coach SP Yadav.

Daksh’s development is being built from the zero/basic level upward, focusing on creating a strong technical foundation before progressing toward advanced batting skills.

🔥 How We Develop a Player from Zero Level

1. Strong Basic Foundation – Correct batting stance, grip, balance and head position are developed first.
2. Batting Technique – Step-by-step work on backlift, body alignment, footwork and bat swing.
3. Balance & Stability – Improving lower-body control and maintaining a strong base during shot ex*****on.
4. Hand-Eye Coordination – Progressive drills help the player judge the ball better and make cleaner contact.
5. Footwork Development – Front-foot and back-foot movements are trained according to different types of deliveries.
6. Shot Ex*****on – Once the basics become consistent, the player progresses toward drives, cuts, pulls and other scoring shots.
7. Reaction & Decision-Making – Training gradually develops the ability to react quickly and select the right shot.
8. Consistency Through Repetition – Every skill is repeated with a structured training plan until the movement becomes more natural and reliable.
9. Advanced Skill Development – After the foundation is strong, advanced drills are introduced according to the player’s age, ability and development needs.

Our philosophy is simple: Build the foundation first, develop the skill step by step, and then take the player toward higher-level performance.

Daksh’s progress over these three months is a great example of how proper guidance, structured training, discipline and consistency can transform a young player’s batting ability. 🏏🔥

🏏 Wrist Movement in Batting | Raunak Patel from UP with SP Yadav

Raunak Patel from Uttar Pradesh training with Coach SP Yadav, working specifically on the importance of quick wrist movement during shot ex*****on.

Quick and well-coordinated wrist movement plays an important role in generating bat speed, power, control, and timing. When the wrists work efficiently with the arms and body rotation, the batter can transfer energy into the shot much more effectively.

🔥 of Quick Wrist Movement

1. Generates Bat Speed – Quick wrist action helps accelerate the bat through the hitting zone.
2. Improves Power – A fast wrist release adds extra speed to the bat and helps generate greater shot power.
3. Better Timing – Proper wrist movement helps the batter make clean contact with the ball.
4. Improves Bat-Face Control – Strong wrist coordination allows better control over the angle of the bat face.
5. Helps in Late Shot Ex*****on – Quick wrists allow the batter to adjust to the ball at the last moment.
6. Better Placement – Wrist control helps direct the ball into gaps rather than relying only on brute force.
7. Effective Against Spin – Good wrist movement helps a batter manipulate the ball and play attacking strokes against spin.
8. Improves Power-Hitting – Quick wrist release can add acceleration to attacking shots when combined with proper body mechanics.
9. Better Shot Variation – It becomes easier to control different strokes such as drives, flicks, cuts, pulls and lofted shots.

⚡ How Is Power Generated Through the Wrists?

Wrist power is not created by the wrists alone. Efficient batting power comes from a coordinated movement of the feet, legs, hips, core, shoulders, arms and wrists.

The wrists act as an important link at the end of the kinetic chain, helping transfer and accelerate the energy into the bat. The key is quick, controlled wrist movement—not simply forcing the wrists.

🎯 Train with the right technique. Develop bat speed, timing, control and power.

Did you know that the majority of non-contact cricket injuries occur during sudden stopping and rapid direction changes rather than top-speed sprinting?

Whether you are applying the brakes to turn for a tight second run or decelerating safely after a fierce bowling follow-through, your core and lower limbs absorb extreme rotational forces. Without multi-directional deceleration training and core stability, players bleed reaction time and risk preventable breakdown under match pressure.

Under ICC Accredited Level-3 SP Yadav, our conditioning programs simulate exact match conditions—building explosive deceleration control, functional agility, and long-term athletic durability.

When the ball moves late, pre-committing your front foot destroys your balance and narrows your scoring arc. At Yadav High Performance Training Center, ICC Accredited Level-3 SP Yadav breaks down the technical trigger adjustments that keep you compact and balanced against pace.

1- critical front-foot errors to eliminate:

2- Weight stuck on the front heel: Locks your hips
and prevents adjustment to late movement.

3- Stepping across the line of off-stump: Cuts off your bat swing and invites LBW or edge dismissals.

4- Reaching ahead of your eyes: Keeps hands separated from the body, losing control over swinging deliveries.

🏏 Coach SP Yadav — The Routine, Dedication & Discipline Required to Reach a Higher Level

A talented player can have good skills, but talent alone is not enough to reach a higher level in cricket. To progress from club cricket to state, national, or professional cricket, a player needs the right routine, dedication, training plan, attitude, consistency, and discipline.

Coach SP Yadav explains that a player’s success is built through the way he or she uses every 24 hours.

1. Dedication Towards Cricket 🎯

A serious player must be committed to improvement every day.

* Come to training with a clear purpose.
* Work on weaknesses instead of only practicing favourite shots.
* Give full concentration during every session.
* Be willing to repeat skills until they become natural.
* Understand that progress takes time and patience.
* Stay committed even when results are not immediately visible.

Dedication means doing the right work consistently, even when nobody is watching.

2. Follow a Proper Training Lesson Plan đź“‹

Training should not be random. Every player should have a structured lesson plan based on their current level and development needs.

A good training plan can include:

Warm-up & Movement → Technical Skills → Batting/Bowling Skills → Advanced Drills → Match Situations → Fitness → Recovery → Performance Review

The coach should regularly evaluate the player’s progress and modify the program according to the player’s requirements.

3. Use Your 24 Hours Correctly ⏰

A high-level player must learn how to manage time.

A player’s day should include proper time for:

* Cricket training
* Fitness and mobility
* Recovery and sleep
* Nutrition and hydration
* Study/education
* Mental preparation
* Match analysis and self-review
* Family and personal responsibilities

24 hours is the same for everyone. The difference comes from how intelligently a player uses those hours.

4. Maintain a Positive Attitude 🧠

Attitude can make a major difference in a player’s development.

A good player should:

* Respect coaches, teammates and opponents.
* Accept constructive feedback.
* Avoid blaming others for mistakes.
* Learn from failure.
* Stay confident without becoming overconfident.
* Focus on solutions rather than excuses.
* Remain mentally strong during difficult phases.

A coach can show you the path, but the player has to walk that path every day.

5. Build Consistency 🔥

One excellent training session does not make a player successful.

The real difference comes from consistent performance and consistent preparation.

A player should try to maintain consistency in:

* Training
* Fitness
* Skill practice
* Recovery
* Nutrition
* Sleep
* Match preparation
* Mental approach

Consistency turns practice into performance.

6. Discipline Is Non-Negotiable 🏆

Discipline means doing what is required, even when you don’t feel like doing it.

A disciplined player:

* Arrives on time.
* Follows the training plan.
* Takes recovery seriously.
* Maintains fitness.
* Follows the coach’s instructions.
* Avoids unnecessary distractions.
* Takes responsibility for performance.
* Maintains good habits away from the ground.

The Higher-Level Player Mindset

Talent + Proper Training + Dedication + Discipline + Consistency + Positive Attitude + Time Management = Long-Term Development

Remember: Higher-level cricket is not built in one day. It is built through thousands of small, correct decisions made every day.

Coach SP Yadav believes that the objective of training should not simply be to make a player perform well today, but to develop the player’s skills, fitness, confidence, discipline and decision-making for higher-level cricket.
