স্বাধীন ভারতের প্রথম মহিলা অলিম্পিয়ান বাঙালি নীলিমা ঘোষকে আমরা কি মনে রেখেছি?🌻

দেশ সদ্য স্বাধীন হয়েছে৷ ভারতীয় ক্রীড়ার মানচিত্রে তখন শুধু ফুটবল হকি,আর ক্রিকেট৷ অন্য খেলাধূলায় ভারতীয়দের তেমন নাম ডাক নেই৷ পুরুষদের ক্ষেত্রে খেলাধূলার পরিসরটা বড় হলেও মহিলাদের খেলাধূলার জন্য বড় প্রাচীর ছিল সামাজিক সংস্কার আর ছ্যুৎমার্গ৷ আর এই কারণেই অনেক পরিবারই চাইতেন না সেই পরিবারের মহিলা সদস্য বাড়ির বাইরে বের হয়ে খেলাধূলা করুক..।

মহিলাদের জন্য ছিল অনেক প্রতিকূলতা৷ সত্যি কথা বলতে কি সেইসময় মহিলারা ঘরের বাইরে এসে খেলাধূলা করবেন, বিভিন্ন প্রতিযোগিতা এমন কি অলিম্পিকে অংশ নেবেন,বিষয়টি বাস্তবায়িত হওয়া বেশ কঠিন ছিল।🔴

সেই স্বপ্নকে বাস্তবে রূপায়িত করেছিলেন এক বাঙালি কন্যা৷ স্বপ্নের উড়ান থেকে বাস্তবের মাটি৷ হেলসিঙ্কি অলিম্পিকের ট্রাক এন্ড ফিল্ড৷ সব সামাজিক প্রাচীর আর বাধা অতিক্রম করে স্বাধীন ভারতের ইতিহাসে তিনিই প্রথম ভারতীয় মহিলা অ্যাথলিট যিনি অলিম্পিকের ট্রাক এন্ড ফিল্ডে দৌড়েছিলেন ভারতের হয়ে৷ মাত্র ১৭ বছরের এক বাঙালি তরুণী ১৯৫২ সালের হেলসিঙ্কি অলিম্পিকের মত বড় আসরে প্রথম ভারতীয় মহিলা অ্যাথলিট হয়ে প্রথমবারের জন্য অলিম্পিকের ট্রাক এন্ড ফিল্ডের ট্রাকে ছুটেছিলেন। সেদিনের সেই দৌড়ে তিনি নিজেই জায়গা করে নিয়েছিলেন ইতিহাসের পাতায়৷

তিনি অংশ নিয়েছিলেন ১০০মিটার দৌড় ও ৮০মিটারের হার্ডলসে৷ হেলসিঙ্কি অলিম্পিকে অংশগ্রহন করেছিলেন আরও এক ভারতীয় কন্যা, তিনি মেরি ডি সুজা৷ কিন্তু ১০০মিটার দৌড়ের প্রথম হিটে ভারতের হয়ে দৌড়ে ইতিহাসের পাতায় স্থান করে নিয়েছিলেন নীলিমা ঘোষ৷ মেরি ডি সুজা দৌড়েছিলেন ৯নম্বর হিটে৷ অলিম্পিকের আসরে ১০০মিটার দৌড়ে নীলিমা ঘোষ সময় নিয়েছিলেন ১৩.৮০ সেকেন্ডে৷ যদিও তিনি ফাইনালে উঠতে পারেননি৷ ৮০মিটার হার্ডলসের হিটে পঞ্চম হয়েছিলেন, হিটের সেরা প্রতিযোগী ফ্যানী ব্লাঙ্কারের থেকে দু সেকেন্ড বেশি সময় করে..🔥

এটুকু বলা যায় ভারতের আজকের মহিলা অ্যাথলিটদের অনুপ্রেরণার নাম নীলিমা ঘোষ৷ যিনি হয়ত অলিম্পিক থেকে পদক জিততে পারেননি, কিন্তু প্রমাণ করেছিলেন ক্রীড়াক্ষেত্রে সমাজিক সংস্কার ও প্রাচীরকে অতিক্রম করতে পারে মেয়েরা। সেই নিলিমা ঘোষকে আমরা ভুলতে বসেছি..
