District Jammu Celebrates World Environment Day with Enthusiastic Participation

The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu, today celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and fervor. The highlight of the celebration was a grand Marathon/Walkathon, which saw the energetic participation of students from various High and Higher Secondary Schools, field staff of the Youth Services and Sports Department (YSS), Zonal Physical Education Officers (ZPEOs), and other officials of the department.

The event commenced from the District Youth Services and Sports Office, Gandhi Nagar, and proceeded through Gole Market, Main Stop, Last Morh Gandhi Nagar, before returning to the starting point. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and high spirits as approximately 250 participants, including students and department officials, took part in the activity.

The event was witnessed by a large number of spectators and was lauded for its vibrant and disciplined ex*****on. On this occasion, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Jammu, Shri Sukh Dev Raj Sharma, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the ZPEOs, officials, and especially the students, for making the programme a grand success. He appreciated the efforts of everyone involved and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting environmental awareness and a healthy lifestyle.

The programme was successfully conducted under the able supervision of DYSSO Jammu, marking yet another milestone in the department’s commitment to youth engagement and environmental responsibility.

World Bicycle Day Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm at Zone Bishnah

Zone Bishnah proudly celebrated World Bicycle Day on 3rd June 2025 under the inspiring leadership of the Zonal Physical Education Officer, Smt. Surbjeet Kour, and the dedicated support of vigilant officials of Zone Bishnah.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 53 cyclists, who assembled at Government High School Chak Murar, the starting point of the rally. The participants covered a scenic 4-kilometre route through the beautiful landscapes of the surrounding village areas, promoting the message of sustainable transportation and healthy living.

To encourage and energize the participants, refreshments were provided at the end of the rally. The event concluded with a note of appreciation for all the participants and the organizing team, highlighting the importance of physical activity and environmental consciousness.

The ZPEO, Smt. Surbjeet Kour, commended the spirit of the participants and emphasized the role of such initiatives in fostering community health and environmental awareness.

An Appreciation Awards Ceremony was held on May 3, 2025, at the office of the Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Bishnah to honour the dedicated staff members of the Youth Services and Sports Department, Zone Bishnah. The event was presided over by Smt. Surbjeet Kour, ZPEO Bishnah, who lauded the tireless efforts and unwavering commitment of all officials in elevating the zone’s stature in the field of sports.

During the ceremony, Smt. The Department of youth Services and sports zone Bishnah organized Inter –school zonal level competitions –cum- Trials at GGHSS BISHNAH & GBHSS BISHNAH for BOYS u14 and u17 yrs in the discipline of Badminton, chess table tennis and Basketball under the chairman ship of District youth services and sports officer, jammu sh.sukhdev Raj Sharma and over all supervision of smt. Surbjeet kour ZPEO Bishnah .
Smt.Anju Gupta Principal GGHSS BISHNAH inaugurated the competitions and encourage the participants to take part in games and sports and advice them not to indulge In adverse activities .
In the end ZPEO Bishnah , proposed words of appreciation to participants on the 3rd day of Inter- school zonal level competition -cum - trials and praising the staff Members for making their sincere efforts in making the said Tournament concluded on 3rd day for Boys u14 and u17 yrs age group .
Near about one hundred and sixty six players/students of Govt/private Institutions were participated with full zeal and zest.
All officials of zone Bishnah were present during the Tournament with full enthusiasm.

Surbjeet kour ZPEO Bishnah .
In the end ZPEO Bishnah , proposed words of appreciation to participants on the 2nd day of Inter- school zonal level competition -cum - trials and praising the staff Members for making their sincere efforts in making the said Tournament concluded on 2nd day for Girls u14 and u17 yrs age group .
Near about six hundred and eighty seven players/students of Govt/private Institutions were participated with full zeal and zest.
All officials of zone Bishnah were present during the Tournament with full enthusiasm.
